Coolent loss issue finally found.

Hi guys........It's been a while on & off road not driving the vehicle much. Noticed some time ago coolent loss here & there. Top it up looking for the loss without any results & yet today clearly getting worse recently had the radiator pressure tested @ 1.5 bar. The leak being the radiator now on the hunt for another here in Cyprus.

There are mostly Chinese branded radiators here starting around €130 even up to €223

Would prefer sourcing from uk maybe the Nissens radiator from Rough Trax if it was feasible to get it here.

Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks

Haha that's so kind of you stomog was debating waiting a few weeks for the part as I'm gonna be sending some bits over by ship or to get something here if suitable.

Would prefer to pay a little extra and get a quality product. Buying abroad from the U.K. there plenty of choice but would need 3 cores for sure as its a hot climate here.

Just called Rough Trax & couldn't get a clear answer if this radiator is suitable for hot climates. So I called & emailed Nissens headquarters & now awaiting more information.

It's only money, just think of the hassle of having to change it again the week after the guarantee expires, as well as the extra cash...

Your right there Clive do want to but original or a good alternative if possible. I'm drawn to the Nissens one right now from Rough Trax as the best alternative bearing in mind I have additional costs to get it here & fit it too. It all adds up

Guys with the leak identified and the search for an alternative I looked online mainly YouTube and found a guy in Australia driving a landcruiser who had broken down in the middle of nowhere with a radiator leak.

I was intrieged to follow on especially with a title "The $1 fix could save your radiator hundreds of dollars"

I was looking for a temporary fix thus enabling me time to source a replacement so I tried it out myself.

My finding are that it worked within 20 mins of driving after adding 4 table spoons of ground pepper with added distilled water to top up the radiator. Been driving for 4 days now & still no issues the leak shown at the seams is nowhere to be seen. So I'm pretty happy with this easy fix for I certainly surprised to see how long it can stay this way.

Yes I could get it repaired just cannot justify the expense to take it off for repair usually cheaper & more guaranteed to get a new one Steve. I did learn that mine is not the original on the car based on that I've had the car 6 years so could of been on there much longer than that. I know this because it's aluminium. My cousin here having a garage has been using aftermarket raditiors for years fitting them to landcruisers says they last around 10 years and been pleased with them. Cost wise their very good ranging from €130-€170 so far. So I've been thinking to get one as spare now & fit if necessary when the leak comes back.
