Desert Driving 2 DVD

Morning All,
Just thought I would give Chris Scott's latest DVD a bit of shameless a
plug.
Desert Driving 2 is essentially a companion DVD to Chris's book 'Sahara
Overland' - the bible for anyone considering going overlanding.
I got a copy a couple of weeks back and last night finally had the
chance to get though the final part.
Once you get past the slightly dodgey (in places) sound track (my wife
said it reminded her of old 70s porn films - I'm still waiting for her
to explain how she knows this!) and one or two cringey bits where Chris
and Toby Savage (Matt's father) punch the air and 'say let's go off
roading' there is a lot of good stuff in there.
I don't think it matters if you are keen on overlanding or not, it
should appeal to all.
For someone planning on going overlanding (like me) it is great to see
all the theory put into action, with good sections on preperation,
desert driving and recovery. It's also good to see other people's
vehicles and how they have been kitted out. Addmittedly there are a
few too many LR's on it, but Chris is always leading the way in his 60
series.
If you have been overlanding before Chris, talks about a number of
different Pistes and includes footage of trips he has done into Algeria
as well as Libya/Egypt border which should be of interest.
If you aren't interested in overlanding, it's worth seeing justto guage
how the other half live - you never know, you might even get converted.
Oh, and to top it all, I noticed our very own Dennis Lamminga's name
appearing in the credits for footage contributions, although
fortunately we didn't have to suffer by seeing him on screen ;-)
Anyway, for only ?14.99, it's well worth getting, so if you want more
info go to:
http://www.sahara-overland.com/desertdriving/index.htm
BTW, it't not the sort of thing you can watch in one sitting, there is
a lot on it (about 133 mins) - it took me about four sessions to get
through it all.

I guess that makes me a freak..; I watched it all in one session ;-)
Definitly worth watching, but I guess you must be interested in this
kind of "overlanding" stuff or it might get a bit boring after a
while. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I order my copy together with roaminyak.org's Morocco pistes, which is
basicly a travel log. Kinda funny to see how Darrin manages to film
himself ;-) Very nice scenery though.
Worth the few pounds it costs, definitly got me dreaming again...
Cheers,
Fred
