Hello fellow members.
This post is to help other members really.
I got up for work the other day and found my key fob not working.
I found this very strange as I locked the car the night before with no problems.
I used my key in the door and started my lc5 no problems.
I got to work and went to lock and key fob working fine.
After work opened my car with key no problems.
Got home and went to lock my car with key fob and won't lock with the key (very strange).
I opened the car via the door with key and started the car.
I got out and locked with key fob and bingo worked perfectly.
I found this very strange and thinking my ignition was not responding to my key.
Next morning got up for work next morning and key works fine.
Got to work and went to lock the car with fob and didn't work again.
I got thinking why is this doing this now what have I done to cause this.
Remembering few days previous I put wd40 on my key and in ignition to keep oiled.
My ignition suddenly decided not to let the pins out to put the steering lock on.
With the ignition pins not popping into place the car key would not respond to the car.
I put more wd40 on again and played around with the ignition barrel.
Key in key out key in and out to release the pins and it worked a treat.
Moral of this post if anyone gets out there car and keys don't work just a quick check on ignition barrel to make sure it clicks the pins on taking the key out as I found out.
Thinking I was doing the correct thing in excess heat with WD40 caused me a headache.
