LC100 4.2TD Manual - Vibration in H/L shift lever

My high/low range shift lever vibrates audibly at 2800rpm in 4th gear under acceleration (and similarly at 2500rpm in 5th). Used to think it was the 'herbs' showing through, but now becoming annoying to the 'front seat passenger'.
Generally quietens down if you grab hold of it or press it to one side, however less effective lately.
Anybody out there experienced this problem and found the cause/rectified the problem?

Took mine out for a spin this afternoon just to see. The H/L lever on mine does vibrate a little but no noise, unless there's something sitting in the leather gator like a phone or glasses then it makes a noise. Maybe something loose under the gator? Just a thought.
