As a new-to-me LJ70 owner I'm looking on information on popular engine swaps. Mine has the standard 2L-T engine. Thinking of a V6/V8 swap.

For me the best swap is the 1KZT with pump mechanic, pressure 1bar, intercooler, the torque is good, the consummation very cool. the V8 is only for the noise, the engine is complexe, the starter isn't accessible. A lot electronic

Way the worlds going with the the electric nonsense I'd be concerned how long parts will remain available .

JCB 4 cylinder 4.4cc looks interesting in its simplicity and being a commercial diesel engine its likely to remain in production for a long time yet .

Thanks for the suggestions. Looking through the various build threads the 1KZ comes up. The JCB 444 engine also and that's a good point you raise Shayne. A friend is convincing me to 2JZ my other LJ70...

Way i see it Toyota owes much of its renown to the mighty 4.2 because who puts an engine designed to move 10 tonnes into a car .

An 8 tonne JCB carries 2 tonne in its bucket i think .
