Looking To Make A Purchase

Hi, I am looking to purchase a stoke 1963 FJ40. I know very little about 4x4's as I am more of an old muscle car guy. But wanted to take my boy out and spend some rime in the woods. Anyway, the guy wants $7100 for it and it looks really clean. I think it has around 112K miles on it no doors or hard top. Are these reliable? and does this seem like a good price. Sorry I do not have much info. I am looking at it in the morning.

Thats a 50 year old vehicle your talking about so i find the mileage hard to believe but google "Landcruiser million miles" and that should put your mind at rest with regards to reliability . I don't know much about FJ40's but i'm pretty sure the first thing the guys on here will ask for is pics so they can look for tell tail signs of non standard parts , inconsistent wear and that kind of thing .

Well it looks good but I think it has had alot of work and mods... no wipers and screen surround filled, no heater, fuse box moved to centre, non-standard steering column. Needs a serious dose of looking at and if you can't see/find rust in the body cross members and underneath. If it suits your purposes then it's a great price.
