Twin Battery set up to Single Battery set up

its been a while since I've posted on here life has moved on a bit, getting married etc .
i have an LJ71, I modified it for overlanding, took it to Morocco etc, anyway I've always wanted to change my battery set up from a twin to a single battery set up and then put a leisure battery in where the 2nd battery was to run the auxiliary stuff fridge etc, partly for some reason it keeps killing one of the battery's .
Has anyone done this?, is it just a matter of linking the four connections into two and fitting a more powerful battery in?, i currently have two 510amp battery's .

Tmax split charger, leisure battery to suit for ancillaries and a proper starter battery as close to 1000 CCA as you can get should see you right.

Ordered all my bits and bobs , including a pc1500 Odessey battery, the guy at Devon 4x4 said I may not be able to charge the battery with an ordinary charger, do I need a special one?
