When did 3l engine change

Hi there ,
just found you !
I wonder if you could help me to find out which Diesel engine my Colorado has ? It was first registered on 11 January 2001 . I’m thinking its not the direct injection D4-D as under the bonnet ,from pics I have seen, it looks like the earlier model . I know the engine was changed in 2001 from KZ to KD ? . The VIN number is slightly scratched so cant see .
Just love the car nice and analogue !!

Your registration document should have engine details on it.

If d4d it should have a top intercooler on it with plastic cover marked Toyota d4d in silver.
IIRC, 2001 is the year before the d4d engine was fitted.

Hello Stephen, there is also an ID plate on the bulkhead, near the front wiper motor, which has lots of info on it. You should see KZJ or KDJ there.
