I was under my Cruiser the other day and noticed this:

Rear drivers side shock is leaking oil.

So much so that it's leaving stains on my driveway...

They are OME shocks and have about 35k miles on them. Is this about normal mileage to get out of these or has this one gone prematurely?

Are your rear bump stops in good order? If they are not then the suspension bottoms out on the shocks.

Looking on the bright side of things, atleast it'll not go rusty  :)

 Bumpstops are probably knackered... Passenger side one fell off yesterday when I was cleaning mud out of the bracket it's bonded too. But in saying that there is no sign of damage to them. No chunks of rubber or anything like that missing... They still look like they'd do the job

How much do the bumpstops compress? How do you know whether or no they are truly knackered... :?:
Maybe when they fall off

If the bump stops are still there your ok, if they are missing then it may of helped the shock fail. Either way it needs a replacement.

Both bumpstops were still on when the leak started. Bit stumped really...
