    Air con problem diagnosis

My local air con specialist always tries to cut out and replace sections of pipe when he can.... he nearly always just blanks the aircon pipes to the rear cabin if they are leaking. It is MUCH cheaper!

Is it normal for air con to cycle on and off?

yes - tried that but no change. The problem was a leak in one of the pipes - they cut out the bad bit and spliced in some new. Very good (if a bit scruffy) aircon specialist.

Is it normal for air con to cycle on and off?

Update.... The aircon stopped blowing cold today so I took it to a local AC specialist - what a great guy - old school who fixes stuff rather than throw new parts at it! Anyway - he injected some dye and discovered a small pinhole leak in a tiny high pressure pipe which he will cut out and...

    Replacement Key/remote nightmare.....

Update... I took the key back and we discovered that each side of the key was slightly different and he had to rotate the original key in his machine and do a separate copy of each "side" of the key - worked perfectly after that and he simply "cloned" the transponder code to the new key with...

    Replacement Key/remote nightmare.....

Cheers guys.... the original key is working fine now after a bit of lubrication and a good dousing with electrical contact cleaner... the "new" key works (ish) in the door locks (I need to pull it out a wee bit and the wiggle!) but will not work in the ignition... I am nervous of trying it too...

    Replacement Key/remote nightmare.....

Well, I thought I would be sensible and get a spare key for the LC120. It only came with one key and I am worried about losing it! so.... much reading on t'internet and scouring of Ebay leads me to find a supplier just around the corner (St Helens UK) who can cut and program keys - joy of...

Colorado GX 1997 Clutch replacement Warrington area....

Hi all. my Landcruiser judders a bit when setting off in first and the clutch pedal "bite" indicates a worn clutch.... It is too big a job for me to tackle so I am looking for a recommended garage in the Warrington/ St Helens area and maybe some idea of likely costs for labour... I assume the...

New member 2004 LC4 owner - Injector recall question

I think I would give them a call and ask if that means it has already been done.... if it is within the VIN range then I guess the previous owner will have made sure the job was done .... hopefully!

Tail lights - first call for help

Just to clarify - when sidelights are switched on - just the front sidelights work NOT the rear tail lights...... and when headlights ("main night time lights") are switched on everything works? Is that correct? If so..... very weird!!!! ps - just a thought - it is the "bottom" red lights...

Is it normal for air con to cycle on and off?

Thanks all.... glad it is all ok. I feel a bit guilty because I took the car to Kwik Fit to get it looked at - they will regas for free if it does not solve the problem... anyway, they connected it up to their machine and it removed all of the old gas, tested the system, filled up with new...

    Underbody protection.

I have just ordered an underbody Schultz (sealant) gun from Ebay and I am now wondeing if there is an easy way to clean everything up before application.... I see that diy sand/grit blasters can be bought to run off about 60 to 90 psi... has anyone tried one of these? (or is a powerwash enough?)

    Retrofit cruise control?

Just to report that the cruise control has been fitted for a month now and everything still works as it should. A really useful, cheap and easy mod for £35. To be recommended.

Is it normal for air con to cycle on and off?

Hi all, my LC3 air con cycles on and off as the pump starts up and the revs rise and fall in unison. This is most noticeable when everything is set to max cold. I thought it was a fault and had it re-gassed at Kwick Fit - they did it for free because it did not solve the problem but I am...

    Diff lock confusion...

Sorry to say I do not have any of those wonderful switches! (just the diff lock rotary switch) It is an LC3.... not sure if I have stability control. Is an auto box oil change simply a matter of undoing the bung and re-filling or does it need to be pumped / flushed through?
  22. F

    Diff lock confusion...

Thanks Chris, I was a bit confused because I have had 4wd vehicles in the past with a variety of "locking" and "viscous coupling" devices. My understanding is that the transfer box is locked via the small lever, the rear diff is locked via the switch on the dash and the front diff does not lock...

    Diff lock confusion...

Hi all, I have read lots but I am afraid I am still a bit confused regarding which oil to use for the diffs and transfer box on my 2003 d4d. I believe that special diff oil is needed if I have a limited slip diff... how can I tell what type of diff I have? I have a rotary type switch which...

    Retrofit cruise control?

Will do - the only thing that worried me a bit was removing the airbag but I just disconnected both earth leads and left it for a while before touching it. The strange thing is that the control stalk allows me to set, reset, accelerate, decelerate, and turn off and on with two wires? How 2...

    Rear door hinge repair.. :)

My rear door had dropped a tiny bit and made a very sad sound when it was shut so I decided to try and fix it. (I am sure someone else will have done this but thought it may be helpful... ) The hinges did not look too bad actually so I guess they are just not up to the job of supporting the...

    Retrofit cruise control?

The cruise control stalk arrived from Thailand surprisingly quickly and I have just fitted it and all is well. Made the move from Landrover Discovery to LC 120 ....

:icon-biggrin: Well, after many years of Landrover ownership I have decided that I have had enough! You need more money than sense to own a Landrover - granted, they drive well and look good but boy do they bite you in the ar$e with monotonous regularity! They are the only vehicle I know of...

How to check auto box oil level?

How to check auto box oil level?

Hi all, I have just pulled the dipstick on my LC120 2003 auto and it registers just on the "HOT" mark but the engine is cold - ie first thing in the morning. Should I run the engine / select "drive" or do something else to get the correct reading? Or is it overfilled? Thanks in advance.

    Retrofit cruise control?

Hi, I have just moved over from a Disco 3 to a LC 120 (2003 auto) and I was wondering if I can retro fit the cruise control switch (part number 84632-08021). I did a similar thing on the Disco - simply a matter of buying the switch and plugging it in. Anyone done the same on a 120? A search...

    Should I fit a new radiator - 2003 120,000 miles?

    Should I fit a new radiator - 2003 120,000 miles?

Hi all, I have been told that there is a common problem with failing radiators which allow coolant into the auto gearbox. Is it a problem with the 120 or was it just the 90's? Mine is a 2003 model with 120,000 miles - just wondering if a new radiator would be a good idea? (no problems at...

New (to me) Colorado GX 1997 front outer CV rubber boot needs replacement.

Hi all, I have recently deserted Land Rovers and joined the Landcruiser fraternity. Bought an old Colorado 95 (1997 vintage) and was so impressed with it I have bought a LC120 (2003) as well. Hence my need to sort out a few niggles on the Colorado and get it sold ready for the "new" one...
