With Talk Talk email at the moment. The older half of my inbox has disappeared today. In fact my inbox only goes back 3 months. There were old emails in inbox going back to 2019 which I wanted. My sent emails go right back to the beginning in June 2019 when I first had this computer.
I guess...
Looks like the soft surface of that shell has smudged over the steel body blocking the oil hole.
Not sure what you say the cause is.
The crank pins are very hard so if the soft shell of the bearing has not gone down to the steel then it should be OK.
Also if the crank pin does not show damage...
Changed energy supplier and I had to agree to have a smart meter. A letter arrived asking me to ring them for an appt but I was then told I'm not in an area where they fit smart meters.
Can't understand what has happened to that piston. Looks like seriously high mileage or seriously low on oil at some time. Might be worth getting a used engine. I know 80 breaker might have one and he might have one you can hear running.
That belt looks a lot older than the ones I've taken off mine at 60k miles each.
Getting the head back on is much worse than removing it. I lowered mine on with block and tackle very carefully in place. But the worst bit was doing up all those head bolts. I was knackered. It's 50/50 chance...
No I did not go to my MP. I addressed the letter to:-
Prime Minister,
10 Downing Street,
London.
I got a letter by return saying they had contacted the relevant department.
Hi Traction man. When I bought the land the Land Registry must have alerted them. As you say there is nothing they can do. They say to phone them if I don't need a licence but why waste my time? I will probo write to the PM and say I am being harassed. I wrote to the PM when some Gov Dept wrote...
A few years ago I bought a small parcel of land at the back of our garden. There was an electricity meter there and also a water meter. As I never intended to use them I took their readings for security. Then I started getting bills for standing charges even though I did not occupy the land. I...
Not like the old days when people had a proper education and respect for others.
I have been with Sky since 1993. In a telephone query to them I changed my package. I then got an email with a lot of mistakes in it. I wrote to Sky head office and received a phone call re my letter (I hate that)...
I should look at the rocker holders etc under the rocker cover. When a piston hits a valve the energy is transferred through the rocker to the rocker shaft and its holders, all of which might be damaged.
How many miles on the belt? Was it Toyota supplied? Looks like the camshaft has seized thus stripping the teeth off the belt?
Be very interested in what you find.
My condolences.
I don't think it necessary to remove the spinning tin tube from the locking nut. Hammering the extractor on would soon chew through that to the head of the bolt. Not sure if the extractor would chew into Toyota locking wheel nuts. They may well be hardened.
Back in the day (70's) a firm in West Bromwich used to make my springs for me. They just needed a pattern. About £6 each. I wonder if such firms are still about.
The centre dif prevents wind up re front and rear axles. The VC runs in parallel with the centre dif so if it detects front axle going faster than rear it locks up so drive is restored to the front until a normal patch of road is reached and the VC disconnects. Works the other way round as well...
Surely he was referring to "high beam warning light"? Be good to see what he has written on his report. He fills in a tick box report and cant see why there would be a box referring to dipped beam warning light.
Back in the day my Dad explained that a new type of bulb had been invented. It was called a "pre focus" bulb. Before these had been produced I assume your headlamp focus was in the lap of the gods.
Seconded Grimbo. I got PC in 2004 which was incurable and aggressive. Early diagnosis helps in most cases but not mine unfortunately. Still going strong though.
Have you had another item not work at the same time. I had warning lights when my rear wiper had packed up. I found a faulty earth inside the tail gate. Fixed the earth; working wiper and no more lights.

This is the contact for the old "hardy spicer GKN" which I used. They specialise in heavy plant driveshaft supplies and repairs.
I had a new prop made for a 1959 Aston Martin by Hardy Spicer in 1979. Cost pence and they are still in business. Back in the day I just walked in through the back door and saw the workshop foreman.
Reminds me of arriving at booked hotel in the 80 in Toulouse. There was an up and over garage door which opened directly on to a busy road after some aiming I got the 80 through the gap to be met with a wormhole sized tunnel leading steeply down with very little headroom. At the bottom there was...
