FJ40 versus Icon

I just watched

Tiff Needell takes an original FJ40 (135bhp) offroad against the Icon 40 (420bhp). Not that the original was intended, IMO, to be a fast off roader but it did not disgrace itself - far from it. With all that power, etc, the Icon should have been much quicker. IMO the original looked far more stable but then the Icon is half a ton lighter so off-road perhaps, with its coils all round, it behaves more like Tigger!

Nice vid Rodger, thanks for posting.

I thought the coils appeared to perform better in terms of keeping all 4 on the dirt, but its just an impression from the vid.

I guess the 40 lost time on the climbs, but no way did it disgrace itself

mmh, when I drive my BJ46 like that, I'm ready for new kidneys. Suspension in the back is 'brick' style.
