Hi all,
Peter here from Australia. Hope everyone's having a good Tuesday (or Monday, depending on your geographic inclination). Had a question for any owners of current model V8 70 series. We took delivery of our new troopy a couple of months ago and have noticed a high-pitched whine/whistle coming from the engine bay during engine breaking. Gets louder with higher speeds/engine load, and goes away completely as soon as any throttle is applied.
Sounded to me like an intake vacuum leak, but the car went into our Toyota dealer today, who advised that it's normal and is a function of the EGR. They said that during engine braking the EGR valve opens very slightly, causing the whistle.
Any current model owners have the same story? Appreciate any and all input.
