Driver Side, Side Mirror Doesn’t Fold

Hello TFK3221 If you gently 'assist' the mirror to fold in with your hand when you activate the motor, it may just pop into life again. I've knocked mine several times rendering it inoperative, but if I gently help it move when pushing the button, it works again. It may work for you.

The good, the bad and the ugly.... not a movie

Hi Mister Cruiser. My local body repair shop did it for me. He had to cut out the bottom section completely, and yes, there was just enough metal left enough to weld to on the underside of the metal plate. As long as it lasts for a few more years, it will do. The plate is there to support the...

The good, the bad and the ugly.... not a movie

Good luck Bob. Mine is in today for a bit of patching up. Edit: And a few hours later, job done.

    N4 Works winch plate

Hello Mick I have one, but I have only got as far as fitting the brackets, then ran out of enthusiasm! As far as I can remember, after removing the crush cans off the chassis rails and mounting the brackets on, the winch plate does protrude forward enough that the stock bumper would likely need...

Cooling mods for 1998 Prado Turbo Diesel 3.0 1KZ-TE

There was no fear of it being anywhere near full Tractionman, there wasn't much to start with. At least it now has one bottles worth of the correct fluid in there. Hopefully, it will help.

Who is doing what maintenance today?

I popped off the viscous fan clutch from my 1KZ-TE at the weekend to see how much oil was present. The fan is only about a year old, but when I opened it up, there wasn't a lot of oil to be seen, so I added some more for good measure.

Cooling mods for 1998 Prado Turbo Diesel 3.0 1KZ-TE

A few years ago, while on a trip in the Pyrenees mountains, we almost cracked the head due to overheating (the ambient temperatures at the time were 42°C/107°F). Fortunately, I managed to get home to the UK intact. After poking around in the engine bay a bit, I removed the original viscous fan...

    Badge

@Beaujangles7 Try amayama, they will probably have one to send. This one is for the Prado, but they probably do one for the Collie too: Emblem & name plate for Toyota Land Cruiser Prado J90, 2 generation 05.1996 - 06.1999 - Toyota Car and Auto Spare Parts - Genuine Online Car Parts Catalogue -...

    Which ATF do you use?

I've just done mine for the second time in three weeks, just to try to make sure there is more new fluid than old. Around 2.5l comes out each time. I just fill through the dip stick with a funnel jamed in the top. No problems.

Genuine Toyota Long Life 'Red' Coolant vs Aisin's Ultra Long Life 'Blue' Coolant

I’ve just been looking at the RoughTrax website and at the differences between the ‘Genuine Toyota Long Life "RED" Coolant’, and the ‘Aisin's Ultra Long Life Blue Coolant’. Both are compatible with my vehicle (KZJ95R-1KZTE), though the Aisin’s version is quite significantly cheaper. However...

    Can’t undo top shock nut

@Kdawg19 Some 90's have a small hole sealed with a rubber bung in the floor pan of the rear cargo area, located above the rear strut nut, to allow for easy access. Could be easier to see if you have that before getting too jiggy with it. I don't know if all 90's have them.
