    70 series conversion

Hey guys, does anyone know of any one who has completed this conversion? My chassis is rather different to anybody elses, and when changing all the body mounts over to suit the Landcruiser body, I jigged it off the original chassis, and widened the front mounts, but I'm not sure what the story...

    79 series ute lift kits

How do you mean the ute is too top heavy for a body lift? with a body lift you are only raising half the weight compared to a suspension lift, your engine, gearbox, chassis etc all stays lower to help keep a lower center of gravity.

Oil change, used oil very low viscosity

Unless more oil came out than you put in I wouldnt be too worried. Was the oil changed while the engine was hot and you normally do it cold? the oil will be thinner hot than cold.

    Plastigauge BEB clearances - Question

Were possible you should really measure the crank and big ends with micrometers to obtain the correct clearance. Plasti-guage is not a very accurate measurement.

    Cleaning Pistons?

The ideal way to do it is dip them into an acid bath, then use a broken ring to make sure the ring gaps are completely clean

    Engine running in methods?

Ive rebuilt and run in a lot of engines, The only time ive had a failure was when I sat one idleing for a while, no load on it caused the bores to glaze over. Ever since then I have just driven them normally, not thrashed, and not pussy footed. Just drive normally, but accelerate then decelerate...

Hi all, thought I would introduce myself, I havnt had much off road experience, apart from having a bit of fun in my old 4wd hilux. Most of my 4x4 experiences are in the mechanical/fabrication side of things. Over the years I have done any thing from suspension lifts, to supercharging an old...
