    40 daily driver

Regarding the daily driver bit - I have been using my BJ40 continuously for the last 4 years. Your biggest enemy is rust. The salt has really taken its toll. The vehicle was 'as new' when I got it even down to the cad plating on injector lines etc - only 24000 Km. I am now in the position of...

    BJ to 2H or better.

Such good replies. Thank you. Looks like I may have to give it a miss Tony. I just don't have much time what with work and a couple of youngsters! Bugger, I thought it would almost be a straight swap seeing as how Meccano like the 40 is. Shame. Andy, how much is your T engine and do you know...

Hi everyone. I'm also looking at a possible 2H or 2HT conversion on my BJ40. The current engine is excellent with less than 35,000 miles on the clock but I am going to have to do a lot of towing and will need a little more torque. So: I have tried to find details of how to convert from...

    BJ/FJ40 Swivel shims

Hi Rodger - Had to strip it all down. The vehicle has drum brakes so the brake back plate has to be removed - Oh well, all's ok now. Cheers for your attempt to help. Ian.

    BJ/FJ40 Swivel shims

Great - many thanks for your reply. It will only require a minor shim so it shouldn't put the swivel housing far off centre so I will try for the bottom only - shouldn't really start a drive shaft oil leak. I reckon it would be possible to do both but the top one would require removing the brake...

    BJ/FJ40 Swivel shims

Hi All. Recently rebuilt both front hubs on my BJ40. I have found that I need to re-shim the left one as there seems to be some play. My question is ---- can I Swap shims in and out by simply removing one cap at a time without removing everything (brake back plate, stub, axle etc) Any advice...
