    Heavy Steering

Hi @scooby, Sorry, I don't know about PAS details on the 120. I'd suggest starting a new thread in the "120 Series" forum. Cheers.

    Heavy Steering

Hello @scooby, wow, that's a low-mileage LC4. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be able to help, but it is a bit of a different issue, especially being on a 120-Series. The 120 has permanent four wheel drive, so it would be worth checking that your central and rear diffs aren't locked...

    Heavy Steering

Brief update... I've not been able to address the PAS issue yet, but the steering has gone back to normal, so it's some sort of intermittent issue. I think the first thing I'll do is flush the PAS fluid, and maybe add some Liqui Molly Stop-leak (is this a good idea?), then see if the problem...

    Heavy Steering

Thanks Shayne and Bob. Ball joints are definitely on the imminent to-do list, but they're not badly worn yet, just slight play. As you say, they could contribute to strain on the PAS pump, which I think looks to be the primary suspect at this point.

Thanks Shayne. What does this do? I'll go take a look and try it.

    Heavy Steering

Hello All, Just wondering if anyone has any pointers for a recent development on my 100. Yesterday the steering went quite heavy / lumpy. As you turn the steering wheel, the power steering seems to pulse slightly. If you turn, then let go of the wheel, the power steering only partially...

    Front Bash Plate

The basic Rival skid plate for my 100 arrived yesterday. Fairly straightforward to fit. They do well at coming up with plenty places to mount the plate using standard holes in crossmembers etc. Quite pleased so far – not a particularly tough off-road plate, but a good replacement for the rusty...

    Front Bash Plate

Hi Sam, I've just ordered one from Rival for my 100. Just a basic 2mm steel one to replace the standard, which like yours was in poor condition. Won't be anything like the ASFIR one above, but it was by far the cheapest option. I can post some photos when it arrives if you like? For the...

    4.2 Oil Leak

Update: the rear of the sump had rotted through, and a previous owner / mechanic had simply wedged a sponge in between the sump and the gearbox! 1HZ-fte sumps are very expensive – so a patch brazed on and painted over has done the job nicely.

    Recovery rope or strap

I have a 14t strap and shackles from Damar Webbing Solutions. (Home Page - [Leaving Land Cruiser Club]) Made in the UK with personal customer support. Would recommend them. Whatever you get, go way overkill. They generally say to go for a 14t rating for normal 4x4 recovery. I recently saw a...
