thats the pcs solenoid, it controls an actuator on the pump that limits power in 1st and rev by stopping extra fuel on boost.

i found with the 4runner (kzn130) set up, horrid dump pipe arrangement. the exhaust side is restrictive over 3000 rpm, need some more fiddling time to make and change dump pipe tho to see if it's dump pipe or turbo yeah i've seen it mentioned before, and toyota did change the inlet manifold...

a thermostat controlling the water coming into the engine is not unique to the KZ, it's used in lots of different engines without problem :think: if a lean running diesel ran hot, they would melt at idle, and diesel tuning would be a piece of piss :lol:

no, sounds like the thermostat is knackered. perhaps that is a contributing factor to cracked heads, old thermostats not reacting properly ?

i mean hot spots actually inside of the head itself, around the combustion chamber or the small waterway between the valves for example. if any spot inside the head gets hot enough for the coolant to boil or get close it'll create a bubble, that spot will stop being cooled and get hotter...

yep :thumbup: really easy, it's a nice bit of metal to drill and tap. do it with the engine running to keep the swarf out :icon-wink:

i think removing the thermostat or core would make the cooling worse because the thermostat restricts the flow of hot water from the head through the block into the back of the thermostat housing, without it there would be a constant stream of hot water into the cold coolant coming into the...
