    1kz-t questions

thats the pcs solenoid, it controls an actuator on the pump that limits power in 1st and rev by stopping extra fuel on boost.

    Cooling the 1KZ-TE motor:

i found with the 4runner (kzn130) set up, horrid dump pipe arrangement. the exhaust side is restrictive over 3000 rpm, need some more fiddling time to make and change dump pipe tho to see if it's dump pipe or turbo yeah i've seen it mentioned before, and toyota did change the inlet manifold...

    Cooling the 1KZ-TE motor:

are you always such an condescending arse ? i said a thermostat controlling the flow of water into an engine is not uncommon, or as you put it fed bottom to top lol google it you'll find out why they are put there i'll just agree to disagree on more fuel makes a diesel run hotter because what...

    Cooling the 1KZ-TE motor:

a thermostat controlling the water coming into the engine is not unique to the KZ, it's used in lots of different engines without problem  if a lean running diesel ran hot, they would melt at idle, and diesel tuning would be a piece of piss

    Cooling the 1KZ-TE motor:

no, sounds like the thermostat is knackered. perhaps that is a contributing factor to cracked heads, old thermostats not reacting properly ?

    Cooling the 1KZ-TE motor:

i mean hot spots actually inside of the head itself, around the combustion chamber or the small waterway between the valves for example. if any spot inside the head gets hot enough for the coolant to boil or get close it'll create a bubble, that spot will stop being cooled and get hotter...

    Cooling the 1KZ-TE motor:

yep  really easy, it's a nice bit of metal to drill and tap. do it with the engine running to keep the swarf out :icon-wink:

    Cooling the 1KZ-TE motor:

i think removing the thermostat or core would make the cooling worse because the thermostat restricts the flow of hot water from the head through the block into the back of the thermostat housing, without it there would be a constant stream of hot water into the cold coolant coming into the...

    Broken my 80 AGAIN

yep i've heard of people swapping them side to side , makes sense to me cos the wear would be on one side of the groove in the bell wouldn't it and swapping to the other you'll be on the unworn side of the groove ?

toy 8" diff's should survive on 37s with modest power the key is a slightly deep contact, solid pinion spacer, 150ft/lb on the sidewheel adjusters, and run to the tighter end of the factory backlash

take the rear prop off, front locker and only one hub in, will soon pin point the broken one lol it's probably cracked the bell or the star if they're really bad it can jam the steering up this is my best exploded cv joint

as this is the most in depth discussion i have come across regarding KZ's cracking there heads i will add my findings here this is a pic of the thermostat housing. purple arrow is heater return, red arrow feed from head/bypass and green feed to water pump inlet as can be seen there is a...

no i have a hilux (i have the same diff's, other then mine are 5.29s), i only came on here after seeing your cruiser on bits4vits blog  for pinion preload i use a park tools tw-1 got mine from a push bike shop  i reckon your diff's alright, if you can hold your hand on it...

    LJ70 Build Thread!

Because the locker body is bigger then a normal diff the clearance to the pinion can be very tight. grinding the edge/end of the pinion can be necessary (was on one of my diffs) . it may have only rubbed in reverse, because the pinion will be pulled into the diff  i also felt my diff...

    LJ70 Build Thread!

i've read the entire thread now :D very nice cruiser  how have you found the kz on veg oil ? do you run 50:50 or have a heat exchanger hot diff could be too little backlash. i aim for between 7 and 8 thou and take a reading of every other tooth lol my lux diff has never got too...
