My name as my nic suggests is Euan Geraghty. I don't have a Landcruiser yet, but I would like an 80 series. I've bid on a few in the past month or so, including one locally that I'd gone to see which looked great apart from some nasty rust on the body, but the seller had omitted any pictures of that or the dash hanging out etc, so it went for more than I was prepared to pay.
I have done, and plan to do some more trips by motorbike, but it would be nice to have a cage wrapped around me at times, so I've been interested in Landcruisers for a while. I've lurked mostly on the other Landcruiser site, but finally found this one after it was mentioned in some posts.
Assuming I eventually find a decent 80, I'd be more inclined to prep it for overlanding rather than hardcore offroad. Not too much experience of 4x4's, though I did spend five years in the TA, mostly running around in Series III's, the odd defender, and one one memorable exercise a V8 101 forward control ambulance. My longest continuous offroad stretch was running the Trans Labrador Highway in the summer on a Honda Magna motorbike, which is a cruiser type on street tyres. Not really recommended, but it can be done.
I live in Bathgate, just outside Edinburgh, currently running a W124 Merc estate, a few motorbikes, and an imported Legacy twin turbo waiting to be broken on my drive (and blocking my garage).
I think that covers it all for now.
