I am wondering about recovery points on my 120. Any recovery I do will not be off-road therefore I was wondering if bow shackle on my tow ball will be acceptable. If I need recovered then should I acquire recovery points to bolt on the chassis as I believe the ‘tie down’ point at the front is not good for towing. Any advice will be much appreciated.

I'm no expert but I do know you should never use a tow ball like that. A jaw and pin type hitch is much safer.
You're correct about the tie down points, that's all they're good for.

Thanks man. I need to have the towball fittedfor a bike rack. It would be good to have the arrangement like Australia where the hitch can be changed from a ball to a point for recovering. I believe these are illegal in the U.K. Front recovery points also don’t seem to be available in the U.K. Looks like I would have to get them from Australia.

There are combines ball/jaw and pin hitches available.

They are a safer bet than just hanging a bow shackle over the ball for towing and light recovery but most towbar mounts are not meant for heavy off road stuff.
If tou want some recovery points for the front You could fabricate some from 10 or 12mm angled steel and mount them with some HT 12.9 bolts which is what I did.

Many, many thanks. I see what you mean about the pin. I could certainly fit one of these. The front points I will either find someone who will fabricate something or bite the bullet and get them from OZ.

When you fitted your front recovery points did the tie down points get in the way?

There were no tie down points. When I bought it there was a large chrome bullbar fitted and the mounting brackets bolted to the chassis where, I suspect, there were some originally, three threaded holes tapped to M12 IIRC.

Ah ok. Mine looks like this at the moment. The recovery points would use the two threaded holes but I wondered if the tie down bracket would get in the road. One photo shows my 120 and the other is the offering from OZ.
