The subject of much discussion in our household Chas, iPads, iPhones, iPods and I paids!

We seem to be so obsessed with interacting with each other via technology, that we've forgotten how to interact with each other without.

I think your right Chas, or Albert.

I was at a wedding 2 weekend ago sitting beside a girl/lady who was twittering that she was sitting at a wedding eating her meal.

I asked her did she know what the phrase 'twittering on' meant.
She didn't...............
I explained..............
Conversation ended abruptly.

Well my social skills weren't great before the advent of 'techno society', clearly they haven't improved.

our kids have grown up without tv or internet & can cook ,play musical instruments do carpentry , gardening ect.

That's rare as far as I can see nowadays.

When I was a child the tv was a thing that was turned on occasionally if a particular show was on, it was turned on at the specified time and turned off as soon as the credits rolled.

Otherwise, in the evenings, we played cards, board games or word games. Or we read books, a lot of books.

Often the tv would go for days without being plugged in.

During the day we played outside, or gardened, and rode a lot of ponies.

Funny thing was, there were literally only 2 or 3 fat kids in my school:think:.

Of course on the other hand, we weren't afraid to get dirty, we weren't 'coached' to be afraid of strangers (and lose our capacity to interact with adults other than our parents) so today I'm not 'in touch with my feminine side' :wtf::wtf: and if someone crosses me I don't run and cry to my mother/the police etc I sort it out myself.:laughing-rolling:

we do see a steady procession of people through A&E either unable to manage risk, so end up damaging themselves doing something extraordinarily stupid, or people with things that don't need A&E but come in because they seem to think someone else needs to sort out their problems for them, acopia as we call it (which used to be a term only used for the elderly, unable to manage in their homes unassisted anymore but is increasingly applied to young people who seem unable to manage life!!)

My all time fave is someone that called an ambulance out for a paper cut, but we see a steady stream of them on a daily basis, from minor cuts and abrasions to flu and minor tummy upsets.

Although at the other end of the scale are those that really should have come in, but 'didn't want to bother anyone' from lacerations requiring stiches to heart attacks from several days before!!
