Another Ebay 80 for sale

There's a few quid in rack, wheels, tyres, winch and front ARB alone. The truck may have some rust, but for offroad, you wouldn't want it to be mint.

Yes your right Clive....Uk vehicles are prone to rust so underbody care & protection is a must.
Thankfully sunny climates like Cyprus here are rust free with no grit & snow on the roads here.

Can't say the same here Dervis, harsh winters with ice and lots of salt, but mine is in reasonable condition considering.
I put it down to a drier atmosphere.
Here it seems to be either wet or dry, we don't get those weeks on end when it's damp all the time like I remember in the UK.
In winter, it can be -20C but it's dry, even with snow or packed snow/ice on the roads. The salt and grit helps to break up the ice, but it seems to evaporate as it melts instead of the salty slush I remember so well in blighty.
This winter was quite mild apart from 2 weeks when it was at -16C.
I imagine Cyprus to be frost free, so a cruiser would want to last forever, especially with some TLC and good maintenance.
Not sure what you're getting in Cyprus at the moment, but it was 38C here today.

Without wishing to hijack Indigo's thread (nearly put IS but thought better of it), do you happen to know if they salt the roads in Hungary Clive? We are paying a visit next month, alas I wasn't allowed to drive over and extend it to visit you :icon-sad: . I did try, but was told it was growing out of all proportion to the long weekend in Budapest we originally intended. I had to agree Lynn had a point there.

Apologies, hijack over.

I'm sure they do Rich, but there won't be much to worry about in July
December through April might be a different story.

Pity you can't make it here though, but I can't pretend it's a 5 minute drive even from Hungary. Budapest to my place is probably a 13 hour non-stop run :icon-neutral:
You could put your better half on a plane on Sunday though....

Its hot here too Clive like around 40C depending on what source you use. A friend of mines Mercedes showed 50c in the car dash so were burning here

There are record temperatures in the western part of the states & other countries right now.....best get my new painted 80 in the garage pronto......lol

Your right about it being mild here with mild winters but very hot summers. Cars here do last well from corrosion so were lucky really. My 80 had no rust on the undercarriage after 23 years but with the restoration chose to give it the protection it deserved to last another 23.......lol

I have lived in Hungary since 95. Yes they do, salt the roads but nothing to worry about in the summer time.

Hiya Nat, are you in Hungary then? If so, whereabouts?

Oh, welcome to the forum BTW. Pop on over to the 'introduce yourself' section and tell us a bit about you and your truck (with photos please) :icon-biggrin:

Best wishes

Richard

Where abouts in devon are you? There's a few now that way. I am in bristol but get down that way fairly often.

Looking forward to your intro Nataily, some pics and a bit of the history of your love affair with 80s would be interesting.

Mostly lads on here I'm afraid, so you might have to make some allowances, but we're not a bad bunch, really.
