Looks smart. Thought you were after buying a 80 for a moment there shayne!!!

This is the only 80 that genuinely tempts me Gav , its the wrong colour but i could fix that , unfortunately i missed pay day this year so that idea is shelved indefinitely

Ha ha. Good looking truck that. I'm now ordering the paint to camo up my 80 mud truck. I'm guessing black for you though.

Yep black for me and wishing i had gone for camo every time i catch a scratch

I wouldn't do it normally but it's already took a bit of a beating. Thought it might hide a few scrapes. Anyway can't talk my boy out of it now!!!

Some look great in camo and some not , seem's to me the bigger the patches the better it works , i would find a camo truck to copy if i were doing it .

Why don't you give Cooper Tyres a call Shayne? I've phoned them before and they were really helpful.

Thats what I have done Shayne. As you say the bigger patern definitely looks best. Olive green black and sand combination is the way I think it will be. Have a picture of a chevy truck done that way I'll try to match.

Everyone sell's stt pro Clive but they just don't tickle my fancy .

I'm dragging my heels to be honest , her trucks in bits so i can't do anything to mine and i'm not expecting 305's on a 16 x 10 rim to fit without headaches . If i forget about Lincomb it doesn't matter - but if i forget about Lincomb then :wtf: did i spend all this money on modification for , other than safety of course

Maybe I'm wrong, I often am, and it's confusing, but the STT PRO has the sidewall protection tread and the others don't.

The OWL is simply Outlined White Letters which I'm not sure you'd want, anyway.

I'm not keen on the new one by the look of it, what others are there?

Not much by way of choice because square edge seems to be the fashion with mud tyre manufacturers and that doesn't bode well for clearances on an ifs trucks .

Them Mudzilla's make me drool and at 13.50 width they would open the door to what i have always wanted which is arctic style flares

But i do like speed and i dread to think what the 5000 mile Romania trip would do to them in short order , moreover i cannot find another 33 of that width so if i adapted my arches to suit them and then they stopped making them or i stopped liking them ......................

They're no use for long distance asphalt Shayne, I'm scrubbing out my BFG KM2 MUDs on general daily asphalt use at the moment, till I get some harder compound ATs, it's breaking my heart.

They've only been on since last October at 2k km per month, and you can see the wear already, MUDs are simply too soft for the black stuff.

I'd love some maxis treps, but it's the same story, but I'd keep them just for off-roading at the weekend. It's a bit of a pain swapping over, but the lazy option is expensive.

You've got me looking at STTs now, 'cos I can't get my hands on KO2s...

Is anyone running or have run on STT for prolonged periods on the road? How have they worn?

I'm on them now Clive and have been for over a year with a break on winter tyres for about 4-5 months. I have started thinking that they are wearing but having bought them second hand it's not easy to tell without measuring them. They do grip well. Better than the winter tyres in fact which was a surprise to me. Total confidence. I think @Chas runs them IIRC. Off road they are great. No complaints at all but then I don't do much and only have road tyres to compare to so not really a good comparison.

Yep, I've been using them for a few years now, I was going to change to the Pro's to try them out but I couldn't find them anywhere for sale when I needed to change.

Knowing where you drive Clive i reckon cooper pro is ideal for you , truth be known it's the perfect tyre for me - if i was sensible but blahh hubbit and ouiy%^&$^*£% .

Research tells me BFG are significantly smaller than the advertised size and your - bangs head against the wall coz i can never remember your brand name (your fav?) , are at least the advertised size if not a little bigger .

Personal opinion , stt owl will flog them all , but perhaps because i have a light truck and perhaps because i like a mud tyre to look like a mud tyre .

Just re-read your earlier post with pics , you have the stt owl marked as pro and the pro marked as new pro ?

Edit General Grabber (previously described as your fav tyre) tend to be actual size i think but of course as with all info gathered by web trawling verification doesn't get better than some bloke said and there will always be contradictions .

We could do with our own True tyre size thread i reckon .

Yep Shayne, all that....

I did like the GGs, only downside is weakish sidewalls. They wear really well and perform on asphalt and track/grass as well as you could expect any AT to do.

Not so good in mud, but that's what having a set of mud tyres is for.

Very confusing to find out the difference between Discoverer, Discoverer STT and the STT PROs, I may have it all wrong.

I couldn't find pics of just Discoverer, but what I did find lent me to thinking they're a more road biased tread, not what I'm after.

The STTs seem to come with the same tread pattern, but without the sidewall tread whereas the PROs do appear to have the sidewall tread.

What I called new was me just repeating what the article said, it's the new model STT, and I don't like the look of it at all. I think it's a backwards step TBH, if I'm right, of course.

The OWL can apply to any of them it seems, if you want outline white lettering.

What I'm after, is an AT, but as aggressive and as mud-like as they come.

The BFG KM2s on at the moment, are fine on asphalt in the dry (although wearing too fast for my liking, because they're soft compound) but in the wet, they can be a bit skittish, and I wouldn't want to have to do a serious emergency stop with them, in the pouring rain.

It's not surprising really, there's no sipes whatsoever on them and they're big block. It's like having hundreds of tiny slick tyres, all stuck on a circular band, not ideal for surfaced roads in the wet at all.

The hunt goes on, and I don't have time to research, that's what's pissing me off. I've also lost my truck helper, he's been forced to leave our company and although I can call on his help, he lives 40 km out of town, so the convenience factor has gone down the toilet.

Hey, ho.
