Weekend outing with Sussex 4x4 Response at Church Farm, Sixpenny Handley

I was kindly invited to a group meeting recently, and caught up with a Land Cruiser Club forum member (StarCruiser), and the team from 'Sussex 4x4 Response' at Church Farm, Sixpenny Handley, Salisbury, over the weekend of 28 - 30th April 2017.
It was quite a nice relaxed affair, apart from the Church bells, and I believe that a good time was had by all.
Anyway, just to show you, here are some photo's of the weekends antics:

A rather lovely start to the Saturday....as you can see, my mate in the '90 has an eco garden on his roof for insulation purposes, and for a food supply if he breaks down anywhere bad....

It was only 'cos he had the strops to get to dry land that the Landy got the job.

Simon did say that a Landy got stuck there the day before.

Interesting. Must have swallowed that when below the water line surely?

It was gurgling and blowing it out every few seconds like a boat. I can only think it had a hole in the exhaust somewhere.

He was blowing a fair bit of black smoke out on the way home Sunday. John wasn't it?

When going into deeper water, it's best to think ahead and to have a strop already fitted with the free end stowed safely up higher, so if you do get stuck, you're not fumbling about in muddy water trying to find recovery points and dropping shackle-pins!

When going into deeper water, it's best to think ahead and to have a strop already fitted with the free end stowed safely up higher, so if you do get stuck, you're not fumbling about in muddy water trying to find recovery points and dropping shackle-pins!

Yes we did mention this to him…lots of times . He was the trip organiser and usually does have a strop fitted- it's just this time, well, I think it fair to say he got over excited at the prospect of actually finding some water to drive through. We did rub it in at the time and I'm sure it will be rubbed in much more in the weeks, months and years to come.

He was blowing a fair bit of black smoke out on the way home Sunday. John wasn't it?

Yes it was John in the Landy. I think I saw every colour smoke available from it when we were on the lanes, black, white and a fair cloud of blue for good measure at times. He came from Cowfold area so had the longest trek home, apart from Colin maybe in Shropshire.

Interestingly, this trip was overwhelmingly Japanese, with 3 Cruisers from new to 23 yrs old, one Surf, a Delica, Shogun, two green Ovals and a Ford Ranger.
