Back home from a very enjoyable weekend organised by Gav and Co.
Few ( quite a lot actually) of bush pinstripes on the 100 now but it did perform well on a standard setup with no rear diff lock.
Roll on the next one.
Firstly I'd establish it wasn't an earth problem by connecting a jump lead from the negative terminal to the block. Then I'd establish there was a current to the small wire which energises the solenoid when the key is turned to the start position.
This will be a start to the diagnosis.
When I...
No Felix, the 100 is my trusty tow rig. The engine came from a 100 I bought very cheap but with FSH, done 180K. I supplied it with the whole front end and gearbox loom.
This isn't a project for the faint hearted but the guy does M57/M606/8HP conversions all the time so I reckon it will be a...
It's on it's way.
On it's way finally to have it's upgrade/conversion.
FTE engine, bigger turbo and intercooler and 8HP gearbox. Should hopefully be done in a month.
Should make it better on the road when towing the Metalian trailer and better off road when green laning.
It would seem so TP.
However my go to wheel refurbisher is a guy trading as Alloy-D. He is north of Sheffield and very well regarded,
His number is 07508 699384.
Hope this helps.
Have you noticed any difference in the way they feel as opposed to the BFG's?
The factory manual for the 250 states the wheel nut torque is 96 lb/ft, same size nuts.
Yep ordered 3 aerosols and an extended probe earlier today, don't know what colour is coming. Doesn't matter as it will be inside the chassis and not seen.
It cost me £650 to have the rear diff rebuilt inc parts. This was for bearings, oil seal and crush washer. The CW&P were perfect and it has lost that " electric motor" whine it had.
I removed it myself and took it to the garage, had it done and collected.
I guess it would be similar in the same...
Have you tried Nayab Akbar on FB? he seems to sell top quality rust free LandCruiser panels and has a very good reputation.
Good solid front 90 wings seem to be like gold dust in the UK.
As is said TP, UV damage plus a bit of Kerb rash. As is mentioned a few , including myself really rate the Yokohama Geolander GO15's. I have them on the Collie ( replacing BFG AT3's) on the Hilux ( replacing Cooper AT's) and they both seem to be a nicer drive. Although I've always been a BFG fan...
I've got 275/70/16's on my Collie ( Geolander GO15's on 8" wheels) . I bought them cheap S/H as they are a standard fitment on an 80 series. I don't know how a bigger size would fit on the 7" wheels, probably ok, someone on here might know.
TBH Andy I'm definitely considering it. It has a towbar and if the long term weather forecast gives no rain it's a more than 50%..
I'm not sure if it hasn't already got it in but I can see that it is painted inside. Probably will investigate and treat it with some kind of wax/Dinitrol...
Got on a bit further tonight, I have to grab an hour here and there but I have to do what I can while its in the house garage
There are the splash guards to go back on but there are 3 coats on top of the factory paint. I'm not sure if anything else is needed on top. I reckon it will be all...
I'm considering trying the " Ice blasting" route on one Cruiser to see how it turns out. Apparently it's the route to go down on underbody preparation pre protection.
Fitted a new rear diff lock actuator to the 80 . The old one had been working intermittently but sometimes isn't good enough when you need it to work all the time. It did work all the time when I bought it 11 years ago so I can't complain.
I think it was about £330 from Amayama.
Ha but no.
Ok I'll put you out of...
It's my 250, I got it in October last year but haven't used it over the winter in order to wait for dry warm weather. It's been on my signature since then.
On the basis that Cruisers in general are not well painted/ protected underneath I thought I'd give...
I use 10/40, 15/40, 20/40 depending what I can find or sometimes a mixture. Fully synthetic is wasted on such an engine as this. I've used long drain 15/40 turbo diesel mineral oil on all the Cruisers including petrol ones .
I change 80's every 5K
120 and Hilux every 7-8K 3.0 D4D
100 series 5-6K...
When its completely coated in etch primer I'll undercoat it all then I'm not sure of the top coat. Something with some thickness for durability. Open to suggestions. It's not something which will be doing a lot of miles or seeing salt.
Bit of preventative maintenance today , etch primer on the chassis.
It's had 4 cans of etch on so far so 3 more should do it before primer and topcoat black.
Today I finished dismantling this old 100 series. It came cheap with the last MOT fails reading like War and Peace. Corrosion wasn't in it, it was very poor. However the saving grace was that it came with full service history on 180 K so the engine was a peach.
So then decided to replace the...
If you're doing a FTE conversion its better to use the ECU and associated electronics as part of the whole conversion. They can produce way more power than the 80 and usually without any smoke. This is the direction I'm going with my 80 green laner having bought a complete fairly low mileage...
