Called in the local Toyota dealer today to pick up an air filter for the 120. The 250 they had in the showroom was sold ( but not collected yet) but I mentioned that I had seen a black Invincible in the area. Turned out it was a local guy had to fetch it from Scotland as it was the only way he...
Brilliant, at this rate the "Ford tax" will soon be an "80" tax.
I was wondering if that one of yours would get much interest at the price. Apparently so, so well done you.
MOT history doesn't read like it was cherished or enthusiastically maintained or owned.
If I was an interested party I'd be sceptical to it's originality.
LandCruisers do seem to make strong money on C+C from my observations.
Got another one out to recommission. 24V auto I ran many years ago. Test ran out in 2013. As usual started straight up, everything still worked and drove out round to be washed. It was a great driver at the time. No locking axle diff, but LSD which worked well when needed.
Some serious dust...
I'm with Lorin on that one.
Whilst I find the delay irritating for genuine parts from Amayama etc its offset by the massive savings over the Uk Toyota dealer prices.
It's something I do nearly every month, always have during LC ownership. Some 80's I've had the lower tailgate would be so stiff it would stay at 45 degrees until lubricated.
I just use some old 20/40 mineral oil in the oil can but anything will do.
When I sold the first one I had after 16 years...
on the 120 did an intermediate 6K oil change new Toyota filter. Fuel and air were done 6K ago so were ok.
Oiled every hinge and lock and greased the U/J's.
Called in the local Toyota dealer today for some service items for Marias 120 and they had this just put in the showroom as I was there.
Only the second one they've had to sell since October.
Today I brought this 80 out of the storage barn where it had been since 2011. It's a petrol version which I ran from 2010-11 and then put away to run something else.
When I ran it it ran as well as you would expect at 106k miles. both times I tested it it passed no advisories, in fact it hadn't...
I think the main differences are cloth instead of leather, seats are manual not electric, no sun roof, no roof bars, not colour coded bumpers.
There might be other differences I can't bring to mind at present.
i found an original sales invoice for an 80 I have.
This was a pretty penny in it's day, equivalent to £82,692 today . This was a slightly discounted price as the OTR price was listed at £37297.00.
Interesting, as I run one of these, although mine is a little newer with the later grill and wheels. I do think the earlier ones do look a little dated now with the two tone paintwork.
I saw the first post when he bought it and thought he paid good money for what he got. I wonder what the...
Plenty about, try for a GX, cloth interior, steel suspension no sun roof. best of all worlds. Half the price of an equivalent 80 series and better in lots of ways.
Have had quite a lot from Amayama. Whether your package attracts or not it will be well cheaper than Toyota, even with a discount. At that price level I'd say it's a 50/50 if they'll pull you. If it was say £250 then it would be a definite.
As a long term owner of one of these I'd say you've no chance. I tried for years whilst patching mine up and in the end had a stainless one made.
Just one thing to note is that they are slightly nosier due to the materiel and ended up wrapping exhaust bandage end to end which quietened it down.
