    Hesitation on my V6 Collie

Bumping back onto this thread I have finally got to the bottom of this problem. Having sought advice from several garages all with different diagnosis from wrong fuel pressure, fume canister, vacuum hose split, throttle body clean, water temp sensor, plugs, leads, MAF sensor clean, all of which...

    RIP Johnnie Walker..

Yes, very sad. We were in the 80 coming back from somewhere laning when we heard his last broadcast. SOTS was the only BBC radio program I listened to ( apart from very occasionally Tony Blackburn if I was trucking early on a weekend).

Just out of interest, what are the changes that are coming. Not that I'm after a brand new Hilux anytime soon, just wondered.

    Jokes

Dolly Parton and Queen Elizabeth went to the Pearly Gates on the same day. They both met with an Angel to find out if they would be admitted to Heaven. The angel said "Unfortunately, there's only one space in Heaven today so I must decide which one of you will be admitted." The Angel asked...

repair or replace 5 speed manual

I'd imagine that either rebuilding or replacing will be a good A$ four figure bill. If it was me I'd try and find a 100 series manual box with the revised 2nd gear synchro to enable better 3rd to second downchanges and try and get some warranty with it.

    250 series on the road?

It would be interesting to see a back to back comparison with a UK spec late 150. I've never driven one but no one ever said they were let down by the engine. No one ever wrings the last available HP out of this type of vehicle driving on the UK roads so in the real word its a bit academic. From...

    250 series on the road?

I totally agree but they will never fit it to the 250 as in other markets it would affect the dearer 300 series. I can tell you it's not underpowered, on the other hand it's not a fire breather either. For normal driving on UK roads its as good as it needs to be as is a Hilux with the same engine.

    2H EDIC question

Yes, all the ones I've had did this. As soon as the ignition is switched on it flicks as you describe. If it fires from cold and stops it usually is a glow plug issue.

    Jokes

I'll apologise in advance for this one:- A mechanic who worked out of his home had a dog named Mace. Mace had a bad habit of eating all the grass on the mechanic's lawn, so the mechanic had to keep Mace inside. The grass eventually became overgrown. One day the mechanic was working on a car in...

    Roof rack for sale.

As above, the roof rack from my recently re acquired 80 series is for sale. I don't know what make it is but it's a pretty decent thing. This is what it looks like on an 80. It's in good condition in need of a little love, It is multi adjustable on the feet so its applications are...

Chasing drone type Noise - Short wheel base 3.0L 120 Manual gear box

If its like an electric motor sound which is relative to road wheel speed it will be the rear wheel bearings. Just having the same problem with my 120. Had a bugger of a job diagnosing it. There is no play in the bearing and it feels fine turning it but I had it off the floor on Sunday ( fork...

When you decide to fix a sticky calliper ......

TBH Shayne you don't need to go through all that messing about with clamps etc if you want to remove the pistons to sort the calliper out. Don't remove the calliper, take the pads out and press the brake pedal. The pistons will travel out one by one, the least resisted first until they are all...

    Oil

I always use semi synth, for a long time used GM 10W/40 but now more or less any make in spec will do as long as it it is changed regularly and genuine filter used.

    the straight through crew.

Back at the MOT station yesterday with the 120. Straight through with only one comment about the brake pipes going into the LSV looking like they might need a rub up anytime soon but not an advise. Not bad for 178k and 20 years old used every single day. Coating regularly with the WD motorbike...

    Oil

Agreed, especially with engines with a few miles on them. Anything with the latest 0W20 oil sound very "boney". I use 10W40 in all I own. If you watch YouTube channel " LR Time", although a LR based theme the guy on there calls it "5 dumbass 30" and blames all the V6 engines woes on the oil...

    the straight through crew.

Took this for MOT today. GX 100 series cheap but needed welding (done) and handbrake attention. All rest ok. Passed no advisories, so will use through the winter. Drives great, roomy and smooth with no AHC to worry about and I do like the cloth interior.

    Wheel nut

Yep it was quite something. With a chip it was rapid to go with the looks. Put Pedders 2" lift on it as the rear springs were tired but it ruined the ride and was ultimately the reason I sold it and got the 120. Am running Yokohama Geolanders GO15's on the silver Collie now and on my Hilux...

    Wheel nut

The lower one. 12V 80's have the cone type, 24V the spigot type same as a Colorado. It looks like the ones you have got are 12V ones. 80 wheels are a good choice for the Collie, I has them on mine with 275/70's with a 2" lift. This gave me no rubbing issues. On my present Collie ( V6) I have...

To Do or Not To Do - Injectors

When I did mine I got all the once use parts from @chapel gate on here. I think they were about £50-60. I can't remember which all the parts were but it was mainly the rocker top gasket and a load of washers I think.
