    Rear Bumper Spare Wheel Carrier!

Of course but it's unlikely. Given how much material I have to order in (it's not just cheap old steel; it's engineering steel) and how much work is in them and what people think they want to pay, it's just not worth me doing them Bodie. Now if I have a massive lathe that could rip 10mm cuts...

    Rear Bumper Spare Wheel Carrier!

You need not only a proper pin, but something very solid to mount it into. Slee in the US do make and sell pins like these. (See pic below) I've just made and sole three to members. There is a lot of work and cost to them and frankly at what I sold them at, no profit for me either. That's the...

    Rear Bumper Spare Wheel Carrier!

I made one once using a trailer hub. It snapped like a carrot. Just not quite man enough for that application. Not saying it was the same design of course, but I was surprised that it failed. Having a wheel mounted on the hub is a whole different set of forces to having an arm hanging off it...

80 series pulling to the right under braking

Yes swapping the front pads left to right would be cheap and quick. Worth doing. Never heard of a duff pad before but then I only fit OEM or EBC

80 series pulling to the right under braking

Certainly if there are major aligment issues, but more than that, wear in things like bushes that allow the suspension to actually steer.

80 series pulling to the right under braking

Well as I think I said, probably not the LPSV and you can disable the pump by pulling the fuse.
  12. Chris

80 series pulling to the right under braking

You can of course pull the fuse under the bonnet to disable the ABS so that's no longer a factor. Worth looking at the rear load proportioning valve on the rear sub too. Not really likey to be that but it does need to be 100%. Have to say it's a strange one. All components in top condition and...

    Clutch Slip Travel Risk?

If the 80 had actually leaked a little, perhaps it would heve kept the dreaded tinworm at bay for a few of them.

    Who has a Compressor fitted??

ARB twin compressor here. Linked to a 2 gallon tank. I later put in hard lines to the sides rather than one central take-off

    Anyone recognise this truck?

There is a Surf one that might just modify. Very similar to the OEM body mounted swing away one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384615614171?hash=item598ce086db:g:ol0AAOSwwNJhv1fM

    fitting rear diff

Personally I would add a smear of sealant too. It's easy to tear the gasket on assembly and even if the tear is at the top, the splashing action of the oil inside will still lead to a leak.

Another one looking for a half decent 80 series

Well the obvious exception of course, other than barn finds, are those pre loved 80's owned by people like us. OK we don't sell them very often, but I've an 80 sitting out there that's in very good fettle indeed. No plans to sell it, but some people do; look at Gary. But I'd certainly NEVER...

Just to be really clear, again. I am not advocating whether people should or should not be allowed to consume alcohol in any measure whilst at work during paid or even unpaid hours. As a moderator one of the things I have to TRY and do is make sure that what people type is factually correct, not...

    Diff Lockers on 80 Series

Sorry Frank, I think I might have misled you .... If you press the dash button, lock the CDL then lock the rear and then the front, you can knock them all OFF and back ON again with just the CDL dash button. If they're not engaged on the rotary dial then they won't come in the the dash button...

    Diff Lockers on 80 Series

It's plug and play. The hardest bit is wiggling the socket out of the hole in the dash. Pull off the blanking plug then stick the locker switch in and push it back into the dash. Regardless of how anyone might see this mod, it has no downsides. You get what you've always had, plus the ability to...

Q: Diff ratios - considering SAS Front axle from 80 series

Well I do know of two cases where it's been done, one was a member on here but I don't have any details I'm afraid. They do it to Hiluxes quite a bit and they share a lot of parts with the Prado

2 icnh o 3 inch lift kit lc 90 prado

I was Shayne, but there was a member before me who lifted a SWB in Scandanavia to ridiculous proportions but it took a lot of engineering. It looked mint. What you really need is some of the adjustable wishbones that I think finally became available for the Hilux / Surf models. That allows you...

    Nu' 10 meeting, bad whatever.

Just to be clear, as a technicality, alcohol at work is an ENTIRELY company related policy. There is NO law at all saying that you cannot consume alcohol during work hours. It would make being a wine taster or a distiller for example very difficult as it would having a business lunch in many...

    Diff Lockers on 80 Series

The pin 7 mod is something entirely different. On the auto, when you resurrect the CDL switch in the dash and lock the diff it affects the gear shift intervals. Some people like the way the shift used to be and some don't The pin 7 mod is a way of reinstating the very long gearshift intervals...

One is super turbo sport mode and the other locks out first gear so that it sets off in second.
  34. Chris

Q: Diff ratios - considering SAS Front axle from 80 series

Hi Jano, I think you'll find there's a wider range of 80 diffs that that. Manual and auto are different to begin with before you get into what's on the shelf.
  35. Chris

2 icnh o 3 inch lift kit lc 90 prado

Unfortunately, as odd as it may sound, lifting a 90 doesn't do much to help with scraping. Either suspension lift or body lift. When you turn the wheels there is typically very little distance between the corner of the tyre and the wheel arch. What is really needed is an adjustment that pushes...

    Diff Lockers on 80 Series

It all depends on the country as to which options you got. Pretty much all as I know got a centre locker. But some also had a viscous centre dif, like an limited slip diff. Most in the UK got that feature. The 3 locker is simple, lock the centre and that gives you the option to lock the rear...

    Clutch Slip Travel Risk?

I would venture to suggest that no, no slip is expected in a clutch. The engine should stall first. The clutch does have springs in it that act radially to prevent harsh snatch (Oooer) when setting off. Also we all slip the clutch on purpose during hill starts and so on. That's what it's...

    Clutch Slip Travel Risk?

I had to replace a clutch on mine one day before a month long trip around Europe towing a trailer. Super panic job, wrong clutch etc etc jeez, sorted at 11th hour and £600 lighter but just as well I did. I don't think I'd have made it there and back. Good advice from all so far, but I'd add in...

Same stuff as people use to clean caravans I think. I have a tub of it somewhere. I use it to clean my trailer.

Frontrunner slanted tank - level sensor.

Thought about this myself. At present I just use a dipstick. The other way which is what I have on the Cruiser tank is a simple sight tube. I tapped a BSP thread into the tank, screwed in a 90 elbow then ran a vertical length of push fit clear tube into the fitting. Just like an old style oil...
