Well someone has to be the first! I'm sorry folks, although this was to be our first meet with members of the group other than Richard and Stumog, we are not going to make it as planned. It's partly Stu's fault. I was hoping to have all our modifications done and dusted prior to this meeting...

    Western Alps - June- July

I don't know your vehicles fuel capacity Gary, but mine is 90 litres, and after laboriously collecting a years worth of data (being a spreadsheet lover), I have worked out that over a spectrum of driving conditions I can expect (hope for) the following ranges from one tank of fuel: Worst case...

Hi Richard. These could also be a viable alternative. We have two of them, bulky but could be ok if used full time...

    Western Alps - June- July

I suppose the best way to approach it is know your vehicle's average MPG and relate it to 10 litres of fuel. If you know for sure that your furthest OPEN fuel station is within that range, you should be fine. For me, I carry two because 2 is 1 and 1 is none, and you never know if an unknown fuel...

    Western Alps - June- July

For me Gary, a 10 litre can provides around 50 miles of traveling on road. I carry two 10 litre cans on long runs, just because I can, and because they are easier to store and manage than a single 20 litre Jerry.

    Storage solutions.

Our current set up is nothing too different to the rest. Again, it is in progress and I'm going to take the rear seats out to extend the space inside. The plan is similar to many, create a suitable flat space on the top of the drawers that can be utilised for sleeping in inclement weather. All...

    Swags

Hi Stu. My mate uses a swag sometimes when we go camping. He says it's ok, but he finds it claustrophobic at times. If you are using an awning anyway, I'd stick with an ex army gortex bivi and arctic bag. I've been using that set up for years and never had a problem.

Who is doing what maintenance today?

Not exactly maintenance as much as making use of spare lights and a bit of aluminium angle...... ....and then deciding to fart arse around inside getting the CB properly wired in rather than the ciggie socket. And fit a new switch so that I can have floods and spots independent....oh, and...

Hello folks. As I'm old and easily confused, is this meet (1st and 2nd June) still on, as I see that there is another date scheduled towards the end of June? Cheers.

    If it was possible

I've never owned an 80, I've only got my 90 series Prado import. If I ever won the lottery (substantially) two things would be on the cards. Complete rebuild of my Prado, and I'd buy a Toyota from Jankel.

    The people have spoken

It is not the end of the world. Have a cup of tea, or in my present case, a nice beer. Whatever happens, generally, we will all be ok in the end. I like my (ordinary) neighbours far and wide just fine, it's just the suits I have little care for. As before, as now, I say nay.

    The Pyrenees, July 2019

Ah that one. It was recommended to us on our first trip, but we couldn't plan it out in time, nor did we have any modern technology to assist us. We ended up scouting around the Espot area, stunning.

    The Pyrenees, July 2019

Hello Firewout. We've done a small section of it before, so we are very excited to do coast to coast. Did you do one of the Wikiloc routes, and if so which one? We're aiming to do this one: https://www.wikiloc.com/offroading-trails/trace-4x4-pyrenees-traversee-4489504

    Looking for a roof tent

Hello Karl. Looking at the price of an iKamper new, I would think that the 'nearly new' would be well outside our price range. We're pushing it to buy a Tufftrek. I had a look at your website, my computer wont show ant details or descriptions?

    The Pyrenees, July 2019

Hello folks. So we are off to the Pyrenees again in July, with one to two friend's coming along. The wife and I in my KZJ95, one mate in his old Defender 90 and the other in his Jeep Rubicon. The plan this year is to do coast to coast (west to east) at a nice appreciative pace, enjoying the sun...

    Looking for a roof tent

Ha, the Good Woman is the wife who doesn't live in the hills, though from time to time we toy with the idea of moving to the hills. The RTT is mainly for her comfort on our next trip to the Pyrenees. I'd be happy under a tarp otherwise.....

    Looking for a roof tent

I know this is an old thread now, but we're off to Tufftrek Saturday to check out the TT02 MK3 RTT. It looks like a good bit of kit, and more importantly will keep The Good Woman happy in the hills. Does anybody have experience with these?

Centre diff lock light playing up

Hello Aeroelastic. First thing, where on earth did you find LED's for the cluster bulbs? I'd love to replace some of mine. If you have a link, please send it. Secondly, I have a '97 Prado import. Sometimes when I try to engage the centre diff, I have to jiggle the lever, or, I have to first go...

Removing the Front Wings on a Land Cruiser 80 Series

Who is doing what maintenance today?

Hello MD. No the coil doesn't move as it's mounted on a solid post below the coil. It's only the antenna that has flexibility, and as far as I know (bearing in mind that most of the time I'm looking forward), the antenna has never hit the body work either. Last time I checked, the SWR reading...

Dinitrol Rust Treatment, Toyota Prado KZJ95

Hi DD. Yeah the price included everything. I just wanted to get under there myself beforehand to do as much as possible, and to inspect the condition before the job got done. There was no protection to remove as it's never been done before, and there was no flaky rust to speak of. She's been...

Thanks DD. I was going to do it myself too, even bought myself some products to get started, but in the end I just couldn't get my hands on a steam cleaner and didn't fancy trying to do it all lying on my back with the car on ramps. I would've come out as a candidate for a minstrel show. I'm...

Dinitrol Rust Treatment, Toyota Prado KZJ95

Hello folks. After quite a long time deliberating the pros and cons of having rust prevention treatment carried out, I finally bit the bullet and had the underside of my Toyota protected. To start with, the underside of the old Gal was, in my opinion, in reasonably good shape considering her...
