Hi all
We are thinking about a Canada trip this summer for about 8 weeks- so far just thinking about Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. So I wanted to start a thread and see what others know.
Our idea would be to ship the car to Halifax and then do two loops of NS and then Newfie. At a later point...
Many thanks for that link Agree with you though the bonnet with those rust bites is not interesting, and certainly not at that price. But the insulation looks good. cheers.
Hi all
can I ask those of you running your (off and on road) navigation with an ipad or a tablet - how much storage capacity you think you need?
is 64GB sufficient or do you really need 256GB? Or even more?
many thanks
Hi on my Troopy/78 the wiper controls are off/low/medium only.
Has anyone done an upgrade to include intermittent, or better still various intermittent speeds (like there is on the 80)?
Anyone done this? Was it tricky or straight forward?
Any pointers to specific relays chosen, or hilux/80...
Hi all
i have fitted a new aux/leisure battery in the rear of my car together with fridge freezer, usbs, lights etc. But I have the old dead aux battery in the engine bay left over from the previous owner. It seems to be connected to a bunch of things (front spot lights, webasto heater, maybe...
Goodness. I feel I have had a narrow escape. I was talking to them a lot last year about a similar 80 refurb project. They would never really define a cost, which to some degree was fair as some it would depend on what they found as they went. But I never felt they were really listening to...
Hey Nick
or give a call to Paul Marsh. I visited him a while back - he gave me alot of time and was v nice , helpful and obviously v knowledgeable. I think he may work with Snymans too.
Hi Nick
yes profile A is prob best. Although
I thought long and hard about engine bay vs cabin, but in the end decided cabin. That way all the electrics “control board” (fuse box, kill switches, various usb sockets etc ) can be clean dry and in one place.
And yes I looked at the super...
Hi Allan - yes I can but I can’t reduce the max charge to the 14.9 recommended by victron.
I can reduce the maximum to 15.0 v which is just above the 14.9v.
I am no electrical expert so I was hoping others would be able to confirm that this is close enough not to be dangerous and not to...
Hi all
I have the Redarc 1225 dcdc charger. Now I find I need to change the aux battery.
You can choose the battery charging profile for AGM, Li, gel or std lead.
I had my eye on a Victron 110ah battery AGM.
The Victron data sheet says that the recommended charge voltages for its batteries are...
I had a similar issue. It was a rear prop shaft Cv joint. Problem is that you can’t really tell if they are partly seized /not fully flexible without taking them off. As an aside I also paid up for a toyota replacement (much more expensive than an after market one) but it has significantly...
Hi Nick
i did a ton of research and came up with the same conclusion as you : Redarc 1225, agm 110Ah plus fixed solar
& as you will know now the 1225 will prioritise taking as much charge as possible from the solar before it bothers the alternator.
As an aside good though Lithium are I didn’t...
Ooh this feels like a job I should explore or do but luckily the rust is out of sight at the moment. Keep the great pics and explanations coming. Cheers
if I remember correctly there is a thread in the forum on this topic, which you can search for past topics. I think ideas included seats from Subaru, Ford models, x3s. But as Chris says I can’t recall how they got fitted to the vehicle itself.
I think someone has half-inched my "turbo" badge from the front of my car. One minute it was there the next.....
I understand it is discontinued from Toyota.
Anyway it looks like this in case anyone has one knocking around or for sale....please pm me.
Thanks a ton.
Hi
on the off chance someone is looking to get rid of a pair of maxtrax please let me know.
(my Aussie pal who was going to bring me a pair is obviously unable to fly.)
many thanks
It maybe an obvious answer but will ask the question anyway - there is nothing in the winch itself which means it can be used with steel cable only or synthetic rope only right? I understand the roller vs fairlead point but otherwise cable and syn. rope are interchangeable right?
Hi all
by chance two different garages have suggested to me recently to get my LC reclassified at the DVLA as a motorhome , or formally a “motor caravan“.
I had not thought of doing this before.
So a couple of questions come to mind:
1. What’s the benefit of doing so? Eg does it lead to...
What is also very interesting is the difference in size of the chamber full of grease - it is much larger on the more expensive Toyota Uj compared to the after market one I removed. I will dig out the photos. I decided to pay up for Toyota Uj for certainty of performance
Hi Dave
Yes everything internally is only 12 volt by design. So no toasters and kettles and hair dryers! The fridge freezer could be plugged into the mains (in fact will automatically switch to AC if it senses the mains power) but I thought best to keep it super simple. So fridge is only...
Hi all
I am building out the internal electric circuitry for running the freezer/lights/pumps etc and am now looking at how I charge the aux battery when I am parked up for up to a week.
Basically there are two potential sources of power when parked - solar panel (which I have sorted) or when...
Hi Chris
agreed on a recent sudden change in prices - poor timing on my part!
I looked at the Dometic and it is a possible choice. It is low profile and comes in a reasonable size/capacity without getting too big.
The only downside i can see is that it is not dual compartment but only one...
Hello all
I am about to put in a new fridge freezer. I have a read a bunch of threads on here and elsewhere.
I currently have a Nat Luna weekender 52 which I have to say has served us well on a number of trips.
What I really like and want to do again is
- have two compartments , one as a...
