80 Series Landcruiser Plug-and-Play Keyless Remote Entry

I hope so as mine is on its way and that is the system I have. Central locking on the key in the door and the switch in-front of the window switches.

    Carpet

Thank you and I thought that myself, just thinking someone might have a good lead on a company over here that would make it at reasonable cost. But that’s not likely I suppose. Oz it is.

Thanks Gav, I’d forgotten about Garry and didn’t know about Karl.

    Carpet

Evening folks. I wondered if anyone knows where to get a new carpet set for an 80? Mine is falling apart and fairly grotty after 33 years. I’ve been quoted over 1k for a custom install and that’s not happening. It’s cheaper to import from the US or Oz but I would have preferred it from here...

    LC80 (Dec 92) - 'turning ABS off'?

Crikey, my 80 doesn’t have ABS and I was thinking of fitting it to make it safer. Now I’m think that’s a bad idea!

    "tuned" profile fuel pins.

I have been looking for gauge pods for a while but was thinking more in the area around the sunroof controls. My 80 came with the altimeter which didn’t work so I took it out years ago. The space left behind would be good to use but it isn’t big enough. However, I have found this guy in Oz and...

    New car sales and features.

Apparently my 80 which was an import years ago, is ok to go into the LEZ zones up here which seems crackers. That’s according to the number plate check system for the areas. Virtually never going now anyway so it doesn’t really matter but amusing none the less.

    New car sales and features.

I’m sure some of you have seen this but it was sent to me the other day.

    Does anyone remember this......?

Perfect height and tyre combo for an 80 in my opinion. Looks very smart and makes one wonder what more is needed in a car?

    100 Series Gullwings

I never actually looked but Yodateq are doing 100 series ones, though top hinge again. The quality on mine is excellent and the fitting was easy. Toyota Land Cruiser 100 Series 1998-2007 GullWing Hatch System with Mo - [Leaving Land Cruiser Club]

    100 Series Gullwings

Yes fair enough, that’s the same reason I didn’t buy them for my 80.

    100 Series Gullwings

I knew I’d seen them somewhere. Big Country in South Africa do them for the 100/105 and you can get their stuff here from UpCountry 4x4. Gullwing Windows – LC100 - Big Country 4x4 | Gullwings - [Leaving Land Cruiser Club]

    250 series on the road?

Saw one on Sunday parked up, it was in a brown that I’d charitably call cafe latte, but looks much more suspicious than that. Might work in Oz or Africa, looked awful here. I thought it looked great on the videos going around, and even in that colour, but in the flesh naa. Perhaps they’ll do a...

    100 Series Gullwings

I got some from America for my 80, the yodatec ones. Well built and not too bad to fit, not sure if they do them for 100/105. However, I found explore glazing in Holland not long after and they look just as good and probably cheaper. My yodatec ones were £1900 after import tax and delivery...

    Driving Land Cruisers

Totally understand your sentiment, I’ve had mine for nearly as long. I feel at home in my 80, had lots of adventures in it and now hopefully with the family for a long time to come. Most new or newer cars offer none of the character. Funnily enough, we have a 12 year old Volvo xc70 for day to...

Glad Land Cruisers don't adopt new technologies

Oh, I like a sunroof. Otherwise totally with you on the basic spec. My opinion whilst of no use to anyone else, is that if you need all those driving ‘aids’ lane assist etc you should probably not be driving. A for massive info screens such as in a Tesla et al, it’s bonkers to have such a...

Mine were about double that but I reckon still good value if they do what they say they do.

    Depo headlights

My thoughts exactly, just liked the depo lights . However with all the other expenditure recently on it, I’ll see what these bulbs from classic car leds are like before I go changing them. Thank you for the input, very helpful as there are so many conflicting stories on t’internet. Reckon it’ll...

    Depo headlights

Yes I was thinking about updating the look but also thought it might improve on the standard candles. I have some LED bulbs to put in and thought that the clear lenses might work better. But first and see what difference they make in the originals.

Morocco, Algeria, Tunisa, Sicilly and Turkey then 3 monthes traveling back to UK

Evening Garry, Apologies in advance if this is a bit long winded. It’s 17 years ago and I can’t quite remember. I went with Paul Blackburn of one life adventure. Certainly insurance was bought at the border like a lot of countries, probably about £15 and good luck trying to use it. My car...

Morocco, Algeria, Tunisa, Sicilly and Turkey then 3 monthes traveling back to UK

Morocco is nice, went there in 2004. However, completely knocked into a cocked hat by Algeria a few years later. I’ve been fortunate in a previous life to travel quite a lot and Algeria is still at the top. I’d you want real desert and massive vistas and really friendly people, it’s the place...

    Depo headlights

Hi folks. I wondered if anyone has any experience with those crystal clear headlights from Depo, also where I might find them? I can see them advertised in Lithuania, but don’t want to shell out for them to find they’re for a LHD vehicle. Thank you in advance

Who is doing what maintenance today?

A good thing for cleaning the drain pipes and as making sure you don’t puncture them is important, get some nylon strimmer wire. It’s the perfect diameter, flexibility and rigidity for the job.

    Seat upgrade

Meant to say, Planted are an American company and produce bolt in seat bases for nearly any seat. I have a set of those to go in which I imported direct. Turns out Demon Tweeks stock them or at least can get them so it may be worth looking them up.

    Seat upgrade

Hi John, Albeit a different vehicle, I changed my seats in my 80 a long time ago. My pointer pup at the time had got bored and removed all the seat foam and spread it liberally around the rest of the car. I used the standard seat runners (jap import and manual seats) had some flat plate steel...

    radio problems

Try the Kenwood 5200bt or pioneer S820. Obviously aftermarket but buttons, screen and large volume knob so doesn’t look as odd as some. I have an alpine one but I don’t think they produce it anymore, though they’re showing on fleabay second hand. Agree with Shayne above about changing the...

    New Car Day

My 55 plate 120 is one of the best cars I’ve had. Had it since 2013 and it’s now on 246,000 miles. Hell of a lot of that at approx 80mph, and been very reliable barring a couple of things other than regular oil/filter changes. Did the injector seats at 175,000 as they hadn’t been done and the 6...

    Head Lights

I found Classic Car LEDs but I can’t include the web address, it’s easy to find. I haven’t fitted them yet but I thought reasonable price and they’re decent quality by the looks. Got the warm white ones as I prefer it to bright white and reckoned I’d get less bother from those that like to bother.

I’ve ended up having mine repaired. The guy has made a good job of it and you wouldn’t even know.
