Carpet

Evening folks. I wondered if anyone knows where to get a new carpet set for an 80? Mine is falling apart and fairly grotty after 33 years. I’ve been quoted over 1k for a custom install and that’s not happening. It’s cheaper to import from the US or Oz but I would have preferred it from here. Thank you in advance.

Personally I doubt you will find a really good second hand set at a sensible price. The youngest vehicles are now 27 years.

Thank you and I thought that myself, just thinking someone might have a good lead on a company over here that would make it at reasonable cost. But that’s not likely I suppose. Oz it is.

I have wondered how van liner might work as carpet , 4 way stretch has to help and typically we have our feet on rubber mats anyway .

Why not have a go at fitting one yourself using your old one as a pattern. I've just bought a piece of heavy duty, commercial gel backed carpet for the garage. Admittedly not as difficult as a vehicle fit but very hard wearing. A piece 4m x 2m was £60. Similar to this stuff but a different brand...Carpet.
Many different brands and colours to choose from.

Watching a few vids they all use heat to help with flexibility , heatgun on the backing or steamer on the top , it actually looks a lot easier than i imagined .

Definitely worth an ask at the breakers. I got a brown carpet for my gold 80 from Garry and it was immaculate. Not all breaker trucks are mobile chicken coops.
