    Site 'Search' option

Just had a quick try now and it seems to be working normally. Were you searching for something very specific?

    Car insurance.

Worth shopping around a bit, the comparison sites are great at getting a quick idea of what the market is doing.

New to LC club | im thinking to get a lj70

Nice write up! What you said applies to many 'classic' vehicles. Owning and maintaining them is not to do with how much you can sell it for, it's for the enjoyment of driving it now. Plus I do enjoy driving something that is not the normal run of the mill vehicle.

I've decided to turbo my 3.6 H engine!

Yesss, that's so cool. Bet you have the biggest grin driving it. Plus who doesnt like a bit of turbo spool! I bloody love it.

    Rear Hub Axle Oil Seals

Personally while you have it all apart and you have a replacement seal I'd 100% change it. Lip seals can look perfectly ok and still be leaking. Assuming the inner seal isnt that hard to change, doesnt look like it should be.

    New tyre time?

If you get another 12 years out of a brand new set at 1k that's less than 100£ per year, seems like pretty good value to me.

Few last jobs today, we're off to Portugal on the 25th, hence to push to get everything done. The wiring for position switch on the rear diff lock had rotted away, it was working with a bit of a wiring bodge I did last year before our trip. I finally got round to ordering the correct...

Centre diff lock rebuild: Lowered the GB cross member to give me space to undo the 4 bolts holding the actuator on to the transfer case. From the outside it didnt look too bad, once I finally got it open and all apart it looked like something dredged up from the Titanic. A lot of corrosion...

Few more jobs done yesterday, engine oil and filter change, had only done about 3000 miles since the last one, but it was a year ago. Adjusted the handbrake for the MOT as it was weak as always. Passed the MOT this morning with 2 minor advisories, small rust hole in the front inner wing, and...

    80 Series Transfer diff lock

Ah, thanks so much for trying. We will have left by then. I'll have taken it off and had a look in the next couple days so will know if I can revive it. If not could look at getting them posted or I potentially I could come over and pick them up?

Will have a look on mine, doubt it's ever been done. I presume it's a sock type strainer

How easy is the in tank filter to get to? I presume on an 80?

    My hazard light question.

My guess would be what ever loom connector you have connected your new stuff to, that used to supply the hazard switch will have the wire in it you need. Might be a bit hard now it's all fitted, but it might be the only way. Plus wiring diagram for that part of the car. Not sure if they are...

    80 Series Transfer diff lock

Hi All, I've not taken my transfer box diff lock actuator off yet to have a look, but I'm pretty certain it's broken. Does any one have a spare they would be willing to initially loan for me to fault find with and or sell? I'm based around Ross on Wye but work near Bristol Airport if anyone...

Bit more work on Sunday. Thought I had an issue with the full beam bulb on the dash. Taking the clocks out of these is such a pain, whole dash apart.... Any way, bulb was fine, turns out led head light bulbs somehow stop the tell tail light coming on, plus I have a light bar that is relayed...

I doubt it makes a massive amount of difference, I guess it just gives a little more flex in a different direction. If it was good enough for Mr T in the original direction, I'm sure itll still be fine now!

Bit more work on the old bus today, maintenance rather than upgrades. Changed gearbox, transfer box and both axles oil. All pretty drama free. Loved the fact that who ever did it last time, not me, had fitted the mag plug on the transfer box in the fill hole rather than the drain. Wont be...
