Noco Genius Boost - An Insight

I have a similar thing, however having taken it apart the battery is 3x the size of that. I have abused it (would be an understatement) fried the plastic clamps first as power only goes to one side of them, so I made some new ones. It actually does some serious cranking, I was faffing about with...

Fuel Pump Mods - I now all about them

The advance system is also quite simple, the roller/cam ring is essentially fixed to body of the pump. But it can rotate 15 degs via a piston at the bottom. Various methods exist for operating it but its just a pressure operated piston, a valve of some sorts bleeds higher pressure off the vane...

Fuel Pump Mods - I now all about them

Whats inside all the main "bits" less a few shims & washers etc The input shaft & high volume vane pump to the left, with the gear for the governor & output tang for the next bit The tang drives the camplate against the roller plate, this operates the plunger (top ) The governor...

Fuel Pump Mods - I now all about them

I have spent the past week (or so) playing with Bosch VE fuel pumps, the same as fitted to 80's (though they are Jap built Zexel's I think) & I now know all about their inner workings :) I am building a "hybrid" pump for my Hymer camper as my god it's slow, 90bhp allegedly from a POS Lucas...

Wanted - Post 2000 Amazon, a nice one what have you got

I've been tasked with finding an Amazon for a good friend, last of the 4.2TD's manual or auto so 2000-2006 etc is good, needs to be lowish miles (for a cruiser anyway) clean & tidy. I'm being paid to find him a nice one & I can happy to travel anywhere. The chap who now wants one was looking at...

Neighbour drives into the truc = New Rear Bumper mods

Well it's one of those jobs I had been meaning to do for ages, the bumper corners on the 80's are in my opinion pants. And I am loathed to spend loads of money on a flashy rear bumper of the Floodbasher, which is really what we have it for getting my wife to work in the regular floods we get...

    Hot Hilux anyone......

These are essentially the Lexus IS-F / Tundra engines, and from memory on the whole will do the entire rally without issues. They sound epic but then so does an IS-F

Been told of a LWB 40 series at the local scrappy

A friend of mine mentioned our local metal recycling place have taken in what would appear by the description to be a "Tidy'ish" 40 Series lwb pickup, I know little else as yet but they have put it aside. Will find out more during the week but is it something anybody is looking for?? If so happy...

40k in Guernsey is quite good going. You really would not want to be towing wide boat trailers round there too much! Lovely place though.

    1hd-ft engine rebuild

Might be worth looking at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PISTON-RINGS-Toyota-Land-Cruiser-4-2-TD-1HD-FT-94mm-/252148759877?fits=Model%3ALand+Cruiser+80&hash=item3ab53cbd45:g:GjQAAOSw5VFWM13w

    Snorkels

The ebay ones are actually rather nicely made, much better than would expect for the price. Proper heavy spec pollyprop, nice SS fixings but the top A pillar fixings have a habit of rusting a bit. just double check the fitting holes before you make any!! I fitted one today, the third one I have...

    1hd-ft engine rebuild

Your EGR cleaner..... did it make the coked up stuff all gooey? smoke may well have been caused by that leaking down. Where you have your lump in situ, I'd line all the pistons up, fill the bores with oil & wait to see what happens. It will be fairly obvious which ones have the best seals. If...

    Camper conversions - Brave Pills

Aha the PDF file shows its a kit as I thought it might be, looks quite simple. HZJ78 are not quite the price of an 80 yet for much the same thing! Would consider chopping up my 80 first. Page 52 explains most of it

    Camper conversions - Brave Pills

The overcab bunk like the demountables give the space you really need, without that I'd say it would be cramped, also making a bed up no matter how easy is a pain. Making a box with slideouts would also be fairly easy.

    Camper conversions - Brave Pills

Yep the Bongo's still for sale, when it snows in the Alps I'm off for a ski trip in it if its not sold... when it snows.... Quite like the idea of the demountables, but few appear to allow towing due to size & overhang. Also looked at Iveco based campers but most are too big for what I need...
