    On the road again

Over the last couple of years up to last November I had been editing, photo-editing and involved in the design of a book called The Automotive Alchemist which is the life story of Andy Saunders who is Britain's best vehicle customiser - sometimes referred to as The British Barris. It is...

    On the road again

This Sunday we leave for the a visit to the UK in the 40. I guess we are cheating a bit because the first leg is only to Santander a mere 1300 kilometres over two days. From Plymouth we have twelve days before returning from Portsmouth but six of them see us at an event and the rest of the time...

Hi Mike and welcome... When you have a few posts under your belt, it would be great to see photos of your HJ45. I can't remember how many posts or indeed if that restriction still applies! Regards, Rodger

    the straight through crew.

Here in Spain older vehicles are not exempt from the annual test. My 48 year old 40 passed - although he didn't like the self parking on the wipers (maybe I shouldn't have been so eager to push the switch as they do not self park!) and with new rear shoes and wheel cylinders he wanted the...

    Registering my fj40

I seem to remember that some time back there was a thread about registering a 40 series. I suggest that you use the search facility to explore the 40 forum section on here to find it. You will need proof of the year of manufacture and, if memory serves, that thread said where to get such a...

Has anyone successfully registered a new LC 70 in Spain/EU?

It would have to be a petrol version for Spain and actually the simplest way is to have the vehicle registered in your name in another country for at least six months and then import and register it as a personal import. Obviously it depends on where you are currently living. You indicate USA...

    Battery recommendations for 1978 FJ40

Can not recommend as my BJ is 24V and, obviously diesel but measure the holder at it narrowest points and get the biggest amp/hour battery that fits as F and 2F engines will need it. Can't see any reference to type, size, etc., in my manual. Regards, Rodger

Toyota LandCruiser FJ40 offer - VALID AGAIN

Hello Martin, I might know someone who might be interested but, before I speak with him, I have some questions: Was the FJ40 registered in Czechia and any duties paid? Is it registered in Czechia? When you took it apart did ALL the parts get kept? Assuming they did, in an orderly fashion or...

    '78 FJ43 crank

Looking at the photo (numbering from the right) I'd say 2 has wear marks and 4,5,6 & 7 have tram lines. So to my untrained eye I say that the crank has not been resurfaced. But you need to get the opinion of someone with more knowledge than me [and probably better eyes] Surely there will be...

    Death wobble

Hi Paul, We had a death wobble problem after I renewed the suspension bushes on our truck. We have P38 coil springs and radius arms grafted to the Toyota 60 series front axle. We took very exact wheelbase measurements and cross measurements - front right to rear left and vice versa - checked...

    Becoming more environmentally aware

    Becoming more environmentally aware

Like @AndycruiserguyLomas going All Electric, I decided that while I have the bodywork forward of the bulkhead off I would install a cat... Obviously currently this is only a temporary fix and I will undoubtedly have to incorporate this into the exhaust system. Not sure how that will go! My 2H...

Hi Ernst, No worries. Shame we didn't get to show you some of the areas around here that are only accessible by 4x4s. 40 series front wings

Just a thought..... Megastore do have used body panels including wings and will send photos on request. Vehicles in southern Spain and Portugal do not suffer from rust as they do in the UK so it may be worth considering a used pair. Regards, Rodger

    HJ47 Winch suggestions

Welcome... That's a great looking truck. With your truck being in such original condition , IMO, it has to be a PTO winch which drives off your transfer box. However they are as rare as hen's teeth, so you may have spend time searching but, I think somewhere, I have a diagram of all the...
