    Dash cracked in sun!

I've rung a couple of dealers, and toyota uk, and unsurprisingly been knobbed off! TBH I am dissapointed in toyota: I'd expect this on a lesser 4x4, but not on a LC. I've priced smart dash repair, but ended up getting an insulin syringe and injectin superglue into the split, and filling with...

    Finally fitted a K&N filter!

After god knows how much procrastinating I've finally fitted a K&N panel filter to the 120! I spotted on FB that West Cost Offroad stocked them, spoke to Paul about getting one for a 120, then picked one up on Friday. At £45 ish it'll have paid for itself in a couple years, plus it makes a nice...

    Dash cracked in sun!

:icon-cry: Came to my car today after a couple days of cycling to work to find the dash has cracked! There's a fine crack in the vinyl on the edge of the dash above the instruments binnacle:thumbdown: I can only put this down to the recent hot weather, but I'm surprised and very dissapointed...

    Brakes and Calipers

I got a set from http://www.brakesint.co.uk/shop.html , cannot remember the price for for new calipers ( you send yours back exchange), but it wasn't too bad! IIRC i bought new discs too. a few other forum members have used them too. I can dig through my reciepts folder tomorrow and have a look...

Lakes 27-29 June 2014 - the Hilux story

Any clearance issues on parkamoor? I've driven it in a defender 90, suzuki sj, and a swb pajero. not sure I'd chance it in my 120!

Said goodbye to my 150 today :(

Somtimes you just get a bad car! Gutted for you Crispin. Goes to prove that newer isn't always better! Volvo looks nice though:icon-twisted:

What's NOT to like about the Oztent?

I've had my RV 4 for four or five years, and still really like it. For quick stops in good weather all you really need to do is chuck up the main part, and put poles under the front, which in reality takes a minute or two: Once your gear's inside, I finish unloading the car, open a bottle and...

    EXPED Camping Mattresses

pretty good iirc, out of my price range though! For warmer weather camping on a very light airbed, or a slightly bulkier s.i mat have a look what www.alpkit.com have to offer.

Gutted for you Graham: Good to see someone could see past the mileage to the excellent car.

How much is a 120 series alloy rim worth ?

Apparaently I could get mine re-ferbed in Ashton to the same standard for £25 a wheel:http://www.landcruiserclub.net/forums/showthread.php/50494-Got-the-rims-back-they-do-look-good-!?highlight=wheels So perhaps this forum is not the best place to get a sale at an inflated price.

    Wind and rain deflectors

I've had Heko deflectors on my 120 for 3 or 4 years, they're pretty good, especially if you want to leave windows open for ventilation when parked up in a typically wet summer.
  17. F

Got the rims back - they do look good !

I've got the same problem! I can manage without a car for four or five days, but if I jack it up and take all five wheels off I've no way of transporting my wheels to Ashton! I've got a trailer..... but my only towbar is on the cruiser!

    Oztent RV5 or JetTent 25x or 30x

I've had an oztent rv3 for five or six years, and cannot fault it: great build quality, easy to erect, superb design and plenty of room with the side panels. Obviously an rv3 would be too small for your needs, maybe look at an RV5 if you get chance!

If that was staged the guy driving the 200 is the best actor I have ever seen. He was bricking it, and his relief at the end in the piece to camera was obvious. Great piece of TV.

OK! so its not a Cruiser.

I love patrols: I was looking for one before I bought the 120 ( the 3l lwb version, 2003 ish) but they are pretty rare, and the weight and part time 4x4 put me off. For offroading you won't get better than a swb 4.2 patrol. A mate has one on a N plate for his plant hire buisness, and has used...

    Halfords 0w 30 synthetic oil, 4l, £10.......?

Don't fall into the trap that main do dealers a better job. What's your thoughts on this bit of recovery work then?

It's only a matter of time until someone gets killed at a pay and play with a kinetic rope. I'm afraid to say the majority of people at pay and plays are halfwits.

    LC5 - limited slip diff?

I thought the 120 had an lsd?!? You have to keep the revs on for the atrac to work properly, I'm on the ipad, so fingers crossed..... hope the link works. http://www.toyota120.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25 Yep, keep the revs around 2K.

IMO that's the only change you need to make when driving an auto offroad. I've always preferred autos offroad. Shame I have a manual.

    Fridge question.

I didn't pick that link because it was cheap; It was the first on google with a half decent description! I have the 36 qt cooler, but should have gone bigger: http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/50qt-extreme-wheeled-cooler-p175405?gclid=CP6m1PudmbsCFUkUwwodNGcAXA (good price too!)

I've had hids in my 120 for the last 3 years, superb IMO, I accidently bought a cheaper set too ( both hids fed off one bulb feed) Passes the mot too, but I was told to leave a set of oe bulbs on the seat for the test, and tell the tester if the hids are no good put the bulbs in!

    landcruiser 80 vs discovery 2

That disco 2 was far from stock! (I'm guessing the 80 was modded too) I'm almost certain it had aftermarket lockers fitted judging by the wheelspin: early disco 2's had no centre diff lock - only traction control.
