Can I legally mount a rear 10L jerry can (petrol) on my 70?

My fuel gauge plays up in my LJ70, sometimes full is 2/3rd tank on the gauge, and I've driven it right to the I had problems with mine, but were triggered by the voltage regulator hidden in the lower fuel/temperature gauge. I had temperature spikes(scary for a 2lt engine owner), cleaned the...

hey, Im in Midlands, been to Wales for a training, off to Norway soon, then Italy and Switzerland…. but, end of march we come home, hooray! tried to look at the booster. Its 1 inch fatter, not sure the brake pipes will fit without any modification… also, the pedal rod definitely needs...

    My Lj70 '86 from Italy

hello, check thermostat and fan clutch before you force the engine. I have got my 1986 lj from montebeluno and the fan clutch was dry inside! Its easy to find silicone oil and refill the clutch. Your dash looks like its an 82deg thermostat.

    LJ70 2.4 Overheating

    LJ70 2.4 Overheating

if you have silicone oil, do not fear to open it and refill it. I did it this summer and its easier than you'd think. first, pay attention how long time you hear the fan engaged after a cold start. if its very short time that could suggest you lost some oil. taking it from the engine is easy...

    LJ78 Radiator Replacement / Repair

radiator aside, I think its worth looking at the fan clutch as well. I lowered the temperature setting on the fan clutch and filled it with 10000cst silicone oil. Fuel consumption increased by 0.7/100 and its noisier but temperature hasn't spiked since. also, fan belts were slipping a bit too.

    RJ70 Build Thread.

Ben, my dash is identical to the blue one. I think LJ before 90 had that variant and the one you have spare is a post 90 variant. Im not sure you can swap them, check if there are matching contacts on the back.

LJ70 2.4 (or 1KZ 3.0) rpms on motorway, fuel economy, etc.?

hi, Ive done 26000km so far in my 2.4lj73. mind you, 70 has not much storage space, 73 does a little bit better with almost 30cm extra. more than 100km/h cruising speed is probably too much to ask poor engine to offer. fuel wise mine managed 8.3l/100km, but city average depends on traffic I...

hello, my truck decided to leak diesel, after one hour I pointed it to come from this full load screw, tried to mark/file the up position on the screw, but didnt realise exactly how it was set. location at the back of the pump didnt help either. Untill I find the o ring, I put some teflon...

finally part of the cruiser club

looks like you have a bit of rust around. on mine I put a piece of transparent hose before the fuel filter and a rusted fuel tank pipe was the reason air was comming through the fuel lines. its a typical issue with old cruisers. on lj73 it involved dropping the tank. also, the fuel neck above...

Ill let the more experienced to share, but axle looks like inner seals are gone and you get diff oil comming out. If you service that, make sure you check/renew the kingpin bearings too. as for ac unit, that is not original by the looks of it. I have my truck nearby, happy to sent pics of...

right, finally saw where you are. I can source the air duct you need if you are happy to do a swap for the ac. I am based sometimes in warwick, so not too far away. I would be interested in the ac pipes in the engine compartment too. My truck is meant to be used in 35 deg temperatures, so I...

the whole ac unit can be replaced with a simple tubing that is found in the non ac models. through bulkhead comes the drain hose on the lower hole, then the two pipes from the ac evaporator. on my lj, I have the vacuum pipes that come from the vacuum pump to the vacuum reservoir routed close to...

Hello, where are you based? I would be interested in the underdash ac unit. its a swap job with the hollow plastic tube that is seen in the non ac geared trucks, can be removed without taking the dashboard out. You can find rubber bungs to cover the two holes in the firewall.

starter turning over but engine wont fire up and run

Iwan is right. My filter cap would bring lots of air in. Put two transparent fuel hoses before and after the filter. then you can see where air bubbles come from, if thats teh case. On my truck loads of air would come first from the tank pipes they corode and than air comes in. Tank pipes...

STOLEN!!!! KZJ78 silver and grey - please help!

In Etiopia, they dont want the 80s since they associate them with old battered cars. They want either the 100s or up or the new 70s. But surely you can see old swb 70s with european colors (ie not white) in Addis. Taxes for cars are also on the stupid side. A tax for a second hand 105 can go up...

    my beloved lj70

Hi, my dash shows exactly same place. When I cold start it, will rise bit above the picture level, then its a drop once termostat opens. While pulling a trailer it went two thirds up, without touching red, but enough to freak me out. I found that rad cap seal was old and stiff and I bought a...

    Something different for Camping

Not sure Karl has a webasto. For webasto I have intake silencers which are basically a plstic barrel with sponge coating on the inside wall. Something different for Camping

I will use mine in winter time. benefit is that heater warms the windsreen area as well, so you get a defrosted windscreen, nit just an easy start for the engine. once warmed up, the engine idles way smoother than after a normal cold start....so all good here...:) what kind of piping u used on...
