I looked at both the Mulgo and AluCab, before finally opting for the AluCab. IMHO both have their own good & bad point, the Mulgo has internal locking Latches and the AluCab has a longer bed with its fold down second flap. I’m happy with the AluCab, but I think you have to look at which suits...

Looking good, I fitted similar to the front doors on my Troopy.

TT gear upgrade is currently £610 plus shipping, duties and such from Aus, then the fitting...... new box is the best way to go for sure

Cheers, I have had a few things for my Troppy shipped from Australia now...... and as you say, normally works out cheaper too.

Looking good there…. white is the best colour for sure. How did the new gearbox cost compare to the Terrain Tamer 5th gear mod, maybe next year I’ll look at upgrading mine too.... but with 33” tyres its not too bad, having said that a taller 5th would still be nice.

I forget what was fitted in my old 80 series, but it’s a rectangular switch it should fit the older 79 series with the flat dash.

I have a Redarc BCDC charger, very happy with its performance. It has a MPPT controller built in and its suitable for all battery types, later i will replace the AGM battery with a lithium.

Why not fit a coil rear end to a VDJ78, if coils are high on the must have list Toyota 70 Series Landcruiser Coil Conversion | JMACX - [Leaving Land Cruiser Club]. Having said that, I'm happy with the leaf springs on the rear of my Troopy........ don't forget good shocks make a difference too.

I have driven both for work over the years…… My choice would be the HZJ79, based on larger cabin and coil front end.

My Troopy was fitted with a BCDC40D in Australia, it works great with both solar and 12 volt input from the main starter battery.

I mean the Redarc BCDC chargers are very good in my humble opinion

Correct, but in recent years we have seen a tread of customers replacing electric rope shovels with diesel hydraulic excavators / shovels due to their flexibility. The 2 main mines where I work produce over 110 million tons of coal a year, but not 1 electric machine in sight.

True, where does the coal come from for the power stations. All diesel power here,........

My Troopy has brush bars fitted, you are more than welcome to take a look and make any measurements you need.

First I would get an intercooler, then the engine tuned on a dyno concentrating on the AFR’s.

Personally I would not purchase Andrew’s Troopy, but having built a similar truck I do understand the costs if you pay retail prices.

He is currently asking AUD120,000, which to fair probably isn’t too bad.

I find even with custom duties it’s still cheaper and easier to get parts from Australia, my complete suspension came from Superior Engineering.

Some crazy people out there.
