Started on the rebuild of the axle. It's taken me a few weeks. I started by cleaning up the axle using the pressure washer and hose.I then started to pull it all apart. The axles were on tight so I used a few HT bulbs from Bunnings. The nuts were also used to remove the axle studs. The rotors on...

Questions for the Guru's! BJ70 and RJ70 merger

Thanks Ben, most helpful. I measured the engine bay of both and the BJ70 is 1100mm exactly and the RJ70 is 1000mm from firewall to bonnet lock. I also measured the cabs as best I could and they are the same from inside front door to rear column so I'm pretty sure they are the same length...

Questions for the Guru's! BJ70 and RJ70 merger

Hi All, I have two SWB 70's; a BJ70 and an RJ70. The body of the RJ70 is in good nick, that of the BJ70 has a bit of rust and has been hacked a bit to add a rear bench seat. The RJ70 has coil suspension and light duty hilux axles while the BJ70 has leaves and HD axles. My initial idea was to...

So the car is called Benji. He's a 1986 BJ70. I think a grey import from Japan. The previous owner put a 2 inch Ironman lift on leaf suspension, 3 inch exhaust (a bit tatty) and ARB bullbar. The car cost $4500 and came with a complete spare 3B engine for parts but turbo was buggered. I've since...

Hi Wout, it's a 3B engine with after market MTQ turbo. She's still a bit sluggish so am hoping to change out the engine to a 1HZ or 1kzt at some point in the future.

HZJ 75 axles onto BJ70 - help needed!

Hi all, I have a BJ70 with disc fronts and drum rears on leaf suspension and am wondering if axles from a more recent HZJ75 Troopy with leaf springs and disc brakes all round will bolt straight up? Interested in the disc brakes and rear ff axle. Are the front discs larger too? Cheers Chris

    LJ70 or BJ70 axle upgrade

Hi Guys, just wondering, how hard would it be to fit axles from a leaf sprung troopie to a coil sprung Bundera? I'm interested in the disk brakes all round, stronger axles and free floating setup in the rear. Anyone done similar? Does anything need to be done with the transfer case or can it...
