There where the arrow is, thats the motor gearbox spindle hidden behind the compass/tilt clocks. A gentle twist is supposed to manually open and close the roof. Mine doesn't move, so will have to go deeper.

If the pump is ok then i assume the next thing to check is the steering box?

No idea, I'll have to check that. How does it work?

I redid the cv's recently and I'm sure there was no stiffness anywhere in the steering.

Hmmm, another filter to look at. Don't remember smelling any burnt fluid. Looking at the rebuild threads it what made me ask the original question. There just didn't seem to be something that could drastically fail.

Toyota took a belts and braces approach to much of the electrics, and surprisingly it just complicated matters somewhat. Not saying it's your problem, but check the relay board behind the driver side footwell cover, right side. I've solved lighting issues by modifying the odd bit of wiring on...

Had the wheels off the ground when we were bleeding the system. Nothing binding or noisier than usual. No screeching from the pump lock to lock.

Hi All, Before I drop the hammer on the parts, what actually goes wrong on the steering pump for it to fail. I see the repair kit is basically just seals. Is that enough to get the pump doing it's job again? Cheers Steve

Does anyone have the harness from the under bonnet fuse box that supplies lights and other stuff. This is the one that runs in front of the radiator. Any 2nd-hand dealers who have? New is discontinued on the online shops I tried. Steve

Just incase your are wondering what's behind the dash and under the battery boxes. Been chasing burnt wiring all week. cut out a few and replaced with my own colours. Car runs but headlights are still dicky.
