    Reverse Polarity on 100

In a word no, I spoke to the lad last week. He bought a new second hand ECU and had it coded, but it still won’t start. The snap on reader won’t connect still either.

    Reverse Polarity on 100

A friend of mine has reversed the polarity on a 2004 100 series 1HD-FTE and now the car is dead. I went to see the car today and initially the dashboard had no lights but but the engine would turn over. After some investigation we found 2 blown fuses (1 in the engine bay and one in the cab) and...

Weird braking behaviour - 80 series - maybe ABS related?!?

Had this on my dads old 80, it’ll be the abs kicking in. You could pull the abs fuse and see if it stops to confirm.

Can this under carriage be restored?

That’s not bad in my opinion and I’ve seen a lot worse. If it’s the spec you want and the price is ok then I’d go for it.

    Man 24 seeking Landcruiser

My brother had a 120 and comparing it to the 80 it definitely felt lighter duty plus it was also going rotten on the sills after 10 years. Plus side was the 6 speed manual box. (I wish the 80 had a 6th lol) 100 series at the moment seems the Best Buy if you can find a decent one. 80 prices seem...

    Man 24 seeking Landcruiser

Hello, Find the best 80 you can here. If not import one from Japan. If you can’t afford a decent one then save up till you can. That’s my advice. Colorados seem to rot worse than the 4.2s and you’ll always deep down wish you had the big engine variant.

    Mixing some petrol into diesel

In America the truckers mix a gallon of engine oil into a tank of diesel to add protection to the engine that the modern clean fuels don’t give. Petrol I suspect is a bad idea.

    Its beginning to bite !!

I drove across to Germany this weekend in the van and diesel was 2.38 Euro in parts of Belgium and Germany. It’ll probably end when putin gets what he wants.

    VW main dealers on here?

I’ve been quite into VWs for a while and I have the full Vagcom diagnostics with coding capabilities (same as dealer) so I’m a little confused as to how a specialist independent wouldn’t have it. It cost just under £1k. It definitely sounds like the MD has had your pants down a little tbh.

    Would you surrender?

If we weren’t such lazy, useless clowns we could carry on with the North Sea gas. The Russians would walk all over us anyway…. This country is f**ked. Then you have the war mongering yanks…..
  17. madmanmart

    Would you surrender?

So we’re pretty much reliant on Soviet gas in this country then we start to alienate the gas producer. Sounds like a solid plan to me. I was always taught “don’t bite a hand that feeds you”.

Hi All I have joined to learn about the 80s

I organised the import of a 95 1HD FT for my dad from Japan a couple of years ago, I’d well recommend it. If you’re looking for a Aufo then it’s easy picking. Manuals are rare out there and took me 6 months to find. Condition was unbelievable.
  20. madmanmart

    Really?

Holy shite that is expensive. Nice truck though. Will any of our Aussie friends tell us how much that is worth over there? It’s nearly $100k AUD !!! :fearscream:

    Where to start

Start by looking for another one ? Seriously though you’re brave taking that on. I’d run for the nearest hill. You’d best get Garry80 of speed dial.

This is horrible news and I wish you my best going forward. I’m not active of this forum much but over the years I’ve found many of your posts useful and informative. P.s don’t sell your 80 to the cruiser king lol

Importing a diesel 80 from Japan

The one my dad imported 3 years ago cost £15k plus VAT, but it was a manual so It took some finding. Probably more now though. Not cheap although its the best driving 80 I've ever driven.

Importing a diesel 80 from Japan

Speak to Torque GT in the south west. They can give you access to the Japanese auction system so you can look though the cars available. If you’re looking for an Auto then you’ll have plenty of choice. Manuals are hard to come by. Once you’ve seen something your interested in then they can send...

Importing a diesel 80 from Japan

Triple lock was an option, but if you insist on a locked car then just be aware that some people in Japan have fitted a switch to the dash to make it look like it has them. Always get this double checked. Stay away from cars Hokkaido as they salt the roads there and cars do rust. Generally the...

    80 Interest growing!

I understand the temptation with prices as they are. I can’t see prices coming down any time soon as vehicles like these aren’t being made any more. I mean Toyota can’t even sell the new 300 here can they. Although I agree if someone came at me with a crazy price then I’d sell it and import...

Another one looking for a half decent 80 series

Ok we’re not talking Land Rover rot box but pretty dam rusty. You may drop on a diamond in the rough but they are thin on the ground. I’d rather pay £15k for an import petrol than £8k for a tarted up green laned UK car. Majority of the Japanese cars are used as show off toys and have never...

Another one looking for a half decent 80 series

The problem is that the price of the diesel 80s is dragging up the petrol ones. People know exactly what these cars are worth now adays and it’s certainly a sellers market. Personally if you’re set on a petrol then recommend importing one from Japan. 90% of the cruisers over here are rotten...

That’s fair enough and I’m sorry if I seem sharp. I haven’t been on here for a while and I seem to notice a steam of new folk asking for 80s, so it baffles me to understand why you’d want to sell your mint truck.
