Hilux will be your best bet, I put hilux hubs on my LJ78 when I converted it to free wheeling hubs. But LJ70 hubs would work. Don’t use surf or other IFS hubs because the disc placing is wrong.

Hi, there are some differences, the LJ71 will have the same ECU to control the engine and gearbox where as the Surf will have separate ECU’s. There isn’t much info on the internet about 1kz swapping with an Auto. I am just about to do the same with my LJ78 (same as yours but a long wheelbase)

Thanks I was going to do an oil change and flush anyway and I might pull the sump off and check the filter. I will take a look at the linkage as I hadn’t thought of that, it does go through a lot of mud and water then get parked up until next time so wouldn’t surprise me if it was seized!

Yes you are right the RRC arch is very different but having looked around some of the aftermarket discovery flare are squarer like the lj78. I'm not saying they will fit I'm just saying it might be an avenue to consider. Ash
