My 100 since I decided to lavish a lump of cash welding and painting and making it look nice again has started being a proper pain in the ass. Basically it does as in the video, doors won't lock, height ride lights appear randomly which is odd since its a factory gx on springs. Disconnect batteries for a while first time and it sorted it. Lasted about 10 days and now it's at it again. Battery trick has no effect this time. Anyone have any ideas other than torch the bas**rd. And now I can't load the video.

Hi,
It sounds like you have a positive or negative earth leak,
A wire may have rubbed through or something full of water.
Try disconnecting one fuse at a time and see if it stops as a way to trace which circuit it's on.
Tow socket full of water?

Hi Gav, if you are able swap in another body ECU which sits above the radio. I have seen very odd electrical behaviours when these are on their way out on the pre facelifts.

Took kids to school this morning in it and everything works again. Noticed ghat interior light was set at off so switched it to door setting and gauges all dropped. Turned off and they are back. However it gives me a row of xxxxxx on digital mileage display instead of blanking out. Going to strip thr light out later. Seems as good place yo start as anywhere.

Does sound like an earth problem. Were any junction blocks disturbed for the welding e.g. in the passenger foot well there's a junction block in the kick panel and I *think* one or more of the mounting bolts provides an earth point for that junction block. There's another one on the drivers side as well.

Think ....and I say think it's the door switch which puts on the interior light shorting to earth when doors shut. It earth's through the body via the 10mm bolt. If I loosen it problem goes away. Soon as it makes earth problem co.rs back. Removed switch for the moment but that's now playing up the central locking. I'll order 4 new ones see if it cures it.
