100 series combo switch

Hi my first post. I am upgrading my 100 series GXL by adding genuine fog lights and I need to fit the new combo switch to operate the lights. The Workshop Manual is not really useful so some hints needed please - removing the steering column shroud, removing and fitting new combo switch...
I know the wiring harness is in place to take the fog lights
is the relay required to make functional?
does the combo switch plug have the correct wiring to it considering it a GXL?
