Oh it has a door handle. By looking at it, I thought door handles are extra as well. As long as there is AC, steering, tires, and a good engine it's fine. With all the extras we have in the car, half of them don't work after a while. In the end, the only things that go on are the engine, steering, tires, and other main stuff that drives us around.

I wish Toyota made a LandCruiser like this with a quieter cabin than a and a more refined and vibration-free engine200 without all the extra electronics and screens. This should not cost more than 20-25K new.

Bikes are going the same way. Top line models now have multiple riding modes, dynamic traction control, "intelligent" ABS, engine braking control, radar assisted cruise control, dynamic on the fly active suspension adjustment, lane change warning, hill hold/start etc....etc, all controlled by, you guessed it, computer(s).

That does look like it could be an ideal base for a custom build, the only reservation I would have is the relatively low powered 2 litre engine. With a camper/overlanding build I reckon it would be underpowered. If it did ever make it to the UK don't count on it being £10k.
