Hi all,
I have successfully taken out my Meta alarm that was fitted aftermarket a couple of years back(before I bought). Tucked in my dash there has always been a key tied into an transponder ring, is this standard on the later 80 series? Does anyone know if I can get rid of this or is it tied into the ECU? and thus I should just tuck it back in and forget about it.

Next question:- I have to press a button to turn the starter once the ignition is turned to start, its just two wires that go though the bulkhead to the solenoid. I want to get rid of this button, can anyone take a picture or explain where the wires from the starter/solenoid should originally attach to the wiring loom? does that make sense?

Oh and now i have removed my alarm has anyone had any experience of aftermarket remote locking jobbies that I can fit?

Ok, managed to work out how to get rid of the transponder ring and the key from under the dash. I just took a control wire that powered the transponder unit (attached to the back of the pump) and ran that straight to the pump bypassing the transponder unit. Hey presto it started. So now I just need to work out how to get rid of the starter button then I can put my dash back together again.

Right jonnie,
Where someone has put the white wire to the starter wire on the starter motor of your truck if that makes sence.
There should be a origonal wire coming out of the loom in that area with a plug on it. That plug should plug into the plug on the starter where the switch wire comes from that is in your car. My guess is that there was a proble with the origonal switch wire that is part of the loom that will be why that button was put in in the first place. Personally seen that problem with four or five trucks now.

Thanks Karl, I have put it all back together now and kept with the button. Think I will hide the button as an anti theft device and leave it how it is. Rather chuffed its all back in one piece. Looking forward to camping!
