Hi there,
does anybody know what does engine diagnostic code 41 mean.
I was today at local Toyota garage and they don't have diagnostic part
in their 1hd-ft book !!??
It is quite urgent since I'm traveling to Algeria (Mali) next week for
one month.
Any help would be highly appreciated !!!
best regards,
Tomaz

Hi,
Not sure if this information is correct:
Code 42 appears to be the following:
VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT--NO SPD. SIGNAL FOR SEVERLA SECONDS
WHILE VEHICLE IS OPERATED UNDER HEAVY LOAD (TPS/MAP/AIR FLOW INPUTS)
--SPEED SENSOR/CIRCUIT
--ECU
Taken from the website -> http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/codes/
If it's an OBD code then I believe they should be standard although I am not
sure..
Have a look here for generic OBD Codes
http://www.kbmsystems.net/obd_fault_codes_db.htm
Of course all the information has been googled and could be wrong :)
Hope it helps.
Martin.

Hi Martin,
I was away for the whole week so I was not able to thank you very much
for your help regarding the engine diagnostic codes.

What was code 41 in the end? I had a look online and all I could find
was "throttle sensor position" which didn't seem very likely for a
diesel with a manual gearbox!
Maybe it's something to do with the cruise control?

Hi Cristopher,
it turned out that it was not the "check engine light" but the
"pre-heating coil light" which was flushing code 41 - the relay switch
which turns on the preheater coil was broken. Because the part can not
be supplied before my departure to algeria we solved the problem by
removing the broken part so I can manually connect the preheater to the
main batteries in case I would need it - which is very unlikely.
Thanks again & regards,
Tomaz

Cristopher,
regarding the engine code 41 - you are right it is relevant only for
gasoline engines.

Tomaz
