Hey guys. Bought my prado not long ago had awesome service history and all. Tried to take it up to mt hutt one day for a ski and as I hit the steep bumpy road the car would randomly just cut out. I would start it again then the car would cut out again but long after. Drives fine on flats and all but as soon as I get an incline with loose terrain it seems to have this problem. Just wondering if anyone might know what the problem could be ?

Manual I assume? Like Karl said fuel filter is a good start and often overlooked by places used to petrol cars.

Auto rules out the drivetrain if this happens in 2nd or 1st gear, as these gears never lock the torque converter hence the drivetrain can't stall the motor. If this happens at these speeds then it's certainly an engine issue.

I'm not familiar with the 1KZ but does this have a throttle like air cut off. If rough terrain causes this then maybe the electrical connection to this is bad.

But fuel basics would be the place to start.
