Here we go again lol , I was just wondering if I could get some “ dumbed down “ answers as I’ve scoured the internet and am just about ready to kiss a wall with my forehead ‘
( all on standard rims )
Question 1- 265/75/16 or 285/75/16
Question 2- can 285/75s be fitted to standard rims?
Question 3- if 285/75’s can be fitted to standard rims how hard is it to get them to work with the car ? ( in terms of fitment)
As of my last post I have now successfully fit a 2” lift and completely stripped , rust proofed ( hopefully ) and painted the rear axle and 90%of the chassis

No tyre will look good on those wheels so i would make finding replacement wheels a priority . A search for jap 6 stud should get some results on ebay .

If I want to fit 285 is the width of the stock rim ok though ? Or if I get new ones do I need wider ones

To fit 285's you will need at least an 8" wheel. Since you appear to have a lift then this will help with clearance. 80 series wheels look as good as anything and with 275's you shouldn't have rubbing issues.
You could get 8" steel wheels with an offset to suit, there are some lads I know who green lane with Colorado's who have 285's but have a body lift as well and some trimming.

80 series wheels with 275/75/16 BFG's. 2" lift. no rubbing but a rock hard ride.

Same tyres on wheels with a different offset, standard suspension. 80 series wheels did just catch the wheelarch but these are ok ( present Collie).

Hope this helps.

Can I remove the need for offset change ( new rims ) with wheel spacers ?

Wheel spacers might help fill the arches a little and prevent a larger tyre touching the frame but tyres actually come with a recommended wheel width .

I can't remember exactly but i'm thinking standard collie wheel are 16x7 with a +15 offset .

80 series wheels are 16x8 with a zero offset .

Think i made 285's on 16x8 -32 offset fit my collie but long ago and lots of grinder trimming and a few taps with a sledgehammer involved . Still wasn't happy so ultimately added a body lift as well .

Yh I think 80 series wheels are the way to go , for some reason apparently because of my age if I add a body lift insurance will hammer me
